About the Australian Mammal Society
The mission of the Australian Mammal Society (AMS) is to contribute to the greater understanding and conservation of Australasian mammals.

Research by members of the Society spans a wide variety of biological disciplines including behavioural and community ecology, population genetics, management and conservation. The AMS is an interdisciplinary society of biologists whose common interest is in the biology and conservation of Australasian mammals. The Society was founded in 1958 and is governed by a Constitution and Regulations, managed by a Council.

The President’s Early Researcher (Post-Doctoral) Award recognises excellence in research undertaken by a member of the Australian Mammal Society within 5 years of the awarding of their PhD.

  • Only members of the Australian Mammal Society are eligible.
  • The award is made on the basis of significant research conducted during the post-doctoral period (not necessarily within a formal post-doctoral position) up to maximum of 5 years after being awarded a PhD.
  • Must have submitted an abstract for a spoken paper for the Annual Meeting.
