Overview:

Two separate cash awards totaling up to $1500 are intended to acknowledge outstanding achievements by female students majoring in geology. The award is intended to encourage the student(s) to pursue her career as a geoscientist.

CRITERIA FOR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: This is a great opportunity for professors to show their support of their female students. Eligible students must exhibit outstanding achievement and enthusiasm in geology courses and good academic achievement in other coursework. The student selected should represent the highest or near highest qualified student among her classmates. Nominees should exhibit a strong interest in or passion for geology. This award is NOT based on financial need. Each qualified recipient will receive an award of $750. If no letters of support are received for the undergraduate award, the scholarship committee may consider Ekdale Field Camp Scholarship applicants having outstanding qualifications to receive this award.

Eligibility:

  • Any undergraduate​ or graduate ​woman attending a Utah college or university with a declared major in a geology​.
  • Eligible students must exhibit outstanding achievement and enthusiasm in geology courses and good academic achievement in other coursework.
  • Nominees should exhibit a strong interest in or passion for​ geology​.
  • Covered Expenses​: Unrestricted use
