Bioversity International is a global research-for-development organization. We have a vision – that agricultural biodiversity nourishes people and sustains the planet.
We deliver scientific evidence, management practices and policy options to use and safeguard agricultural and tree biodiversity to attain sustainable global food and nutrition security.
We work with partners in low-income countries in different regions where agricultural and tree biodiversity can contribute to improved nutrition, resilience, productivity and climate change adaptation.
Bioversity International collaborates with students (MSc and PhD) and working professionals from developed and developing countries to carry out thesis or other research that contributes to our mission to deliver scientific evidence, management practices and policy options to use and safeguard agricultural biodiversity to attain global food and nutrition security. The topic of the research should be aligned with one of Bioversity International’s areas of expertise:
- Adaptation to climate change
- Agricultural ecosystems
- Conservation and use of bananas and tree crops
- Conservation of crop diversity
- Diet diversity for nutrition and health
- Forest and tree genetic diversity
- Marketing diversity
- Policies for plant diversity management
- Production and marketing of bananas and tree crops

The objectives of the fellowships are to develop individual capacity in research for development, to contribute to generating and sharing knowledge, to build a network of scientists and institutions within our field of interest and offer employment experience to recent graduates.
