During his lifetime, Charles B. Degenstein established three separate and independent charitable foundations. During his lifetime, Charles B. Degenstein established three separate and independent charitable foundations. Each Degenstein Foundation has established its own criteria and guidelines and has its own application process for awarding grants to qualified organizations.

Larger grants are awarded based on the importance of the application to the goals and objectives of The 1994 Charles B. Degenstein Foundation, as well as the value to the region located within the seventy-five (75) mile radius of Sunbury, Pennsylvania.

Eligibility:

  • Funding to 501(c)(3) approved non-profit organizations is provided for the following
    • Educational programs and services.
    • Healthcare programs and services.
    • Strategic regional and local needs and the environment.
    • Projects initiated by the Foundation of strategic interest to the region.

Preferences:

  • The 1994 Charles B. Degenstein Foundation looks favorably on additional support for a project from the community and other funding sources.

Ineligibility:

  • Requests for multi-year grants are discouraged. 
  • The 1994 Charles B. Degenstein Foundation grants are rarely expected to cover all project costs. 
  • Foundation Priorities do not include
    • Annual giving campaigns or operating budgets.
    • Requests from individuals for personal needs, including loans and emergency funds.
    • Funding religious or political activities.
    • Requests for grants for any programs or projects under $10,000.00 should be directed to the other two (2) Degenstein Foundations
