Overview:

LCRA and its electric and water customers provide grants for community projects. LCRA's grant program helps local governments and nonprofit organizations fund capital improvement projects to benefit the public. These projects must be located within LCRA's service area.

Emphasis will be placed on projects that include energy efficiency and water conservation, education, volunteer fire departments, and public safety organizations that have been impacted by wildfires and the extreme drought conditions.

Eligibility:

  • Volunteer fire departments, emergency medical services, school districts, libraries, civic groups, local governments and nonprofit organizations may apply for the grants.
  • Grant applicant must be the property owner where the project is located.
  • Project must be for capital improvements.
  • Projects must be in LCRA’s electric or water service area.
  • Applicants requesting $5,000 or more in grant funding must have at least 20 percent in matching funds.

Ineligibility:

  • The types of projects that are not eligible include:
    • completed projects;
    • religious or church-sponsored facilities that can only be used by members;
    • social service projects;
      • Social service projects and limited use facilities – such as food pantries, transitional housing and substance abuse facilities – are not eligible for funding.
    • land acquisition projects;
    • debt reduction campaigns;
    • capital campaigns,
    • program operating costs;
    • seminar and conference fees;
    • computer equipment or software;
    • most functions carried out by a taxing entity;
    • appliances;
    • office equipment; and
    • batteries for equipment.
  • Those ineligible to receive grants include:
    • for-profit entities,
    • individuals,
    • professional associations and nonprofit organizations limited to group membership.
