Eastern Bank is committed to helping communities prosper. That's why we're proud to give an average of 10% of our net income every year to charity. Since 1999, we have donated more than $140 million in charitable giving. We remain committed to these grants throughout our footprint and have committed a total of $5MM to support our communities in 2020.

Grant Program: Community Grants

Community Grants are awarded on a rolling basis throughout the year. Requests to support programs, projects, and event sponsorships are eligible.

The average Community Grant is $2,500. The maximum award for a Community Grant is $10,000. 

Our Foundation does not make multi-year commitments.

Eligibility:

  • The organization:
    • Must have a 501(c)(3) designation
    • Cannot have an IRS subclassification of 509(a)(3)
    • Cannot be a private foundation

Preferences:

  • We prefer to make smaller grants rather than a few large ones to increase the number of organizations and communities served. 

Ineligibility:

  • The organization cannot have an IRS subclassification of 509(a)(3) .
  • The organization cannot be a private foundation.
  • Our Charitable Foundation will not make multi-year commitments regardless of the grant category.
