Parks & People Foundation

Parks + People = Community

Join us in connecting everyone in Baltimore to nature, their community and each other through vibrant parks and green spaces

We believe that creating access to healthy, vibrant outdoor spaces – parks, gardens, playing fields, bike paths, landscaped boulevards, campuses and other green spaces – yields nearly unlimited benefits:

  • Producing communities and goodwill among neighbors
  • Creating identity for people and place
  • Increasing mental health and physical activity
  • Reducing stress levels and mental fatigue
  • Improving air and water quality
  • Attracting wildlife and pollinators
  • Strengthening property values and homeownership rates

Parks & People supports a network of green communities and great parks by offering financial, in-kind and technical assistance that helps community-led groups transform, activate and maintain public parks and green spaces. With our assistance, residents turn under-utilized and vacant spaces into vibrant, well-maintained places for Baltimore communities to grow, learn, play and enjoy.

Parks & People helps communities transform vacant lots and unused space into community gardens, play spaces, outdoor classrooms and gathering spaces. We provide the resources and guidance to make the community’s vision a reality.
