Background

Helen Wallace was one of downtown Fort Worth’s most colorful business people. She helped her husband run R.E. Wallace Stamps & Coins for more than 30 years. The Helen D. and R.E. Wallace Foundation Fund was established in honor of Mrs. Wallace’s lifelong passion for animals. The fund’s primary purpose is to assist efforts to rescue and help animals that are injured, abused or lost.

The Helen D. and R.E. Wallace Foundation Fund was established in 2015 to provide financial assistance to animal rescue organizations in Tarrant and Johnson counties aiding the care of abused, injured and abandoned animals especially dogs, cat and horses.

Funds can be used for:

  • Food, medicine and other basic need items, 
  • Veterinary care and services,
  • Spaying/neutering services,
  • Kennel renovations or additions,
  • Adoption-related equipment such as trailers and portable kennels, or
  • Equipment that positively impacts the welfare of animals.

Eligibility:

  • To be considered for a grant, applicants must be nonprofit, tax-exempt animal welfare organizations (under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code) serving Johnson County and/or Tarrant County.

Ineligibility:

  • Helen D. and R.E. Wallace Foundation Fund does not provide grants in support of:
    • Annual appeals, capital campaigns or endowments
    • Lobbying
    • Fund-raising events
    • Any project or investment that does not directly provide a positive impact for the welfare of animals
