Overview:

Established is 2014 in memory of David M. Dolan, a Great Lakes researcher and active member of IAGLR, this scholarship is given to a student to support graduate research that uses Applied Mathematics for the advancement of a quantitative understanding and management of the Great Lakes ecosystem.

The David M. Dolan Scholarship is currently $3,000 (U.S.) to be awarded annually based on the funds available from the memorial endowment set up by IAGLR for this purpose.  In addition, the scholarship winner will receive a one-year membership in IAGLR, including a subscription to the Journal of Great Lakes Research, and registration for an IAGLR conference at which they plan to present their research findings. The winner will receive the award(s) at the conference banquet.

Eligibility:

  • Eligible applicants must: 
    • Be a full-time enrolled master’s or doctoral student
    • Be a member of IAGLR
    • Wish to pursue a future in applied environmental statistics/modeling pertaining to the Great Lakes
