About this funder:



John Carew, former head of the Department of Horticulture at Michigan State University, dedicated his career to encouraging and guiding young horticulturists. He was instrumental in establishing BPI in 1969.

The Carew scholarship is open to graduate students in horticulture with an interest in greenhouse crops.

  • Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA, be pursuing a career that is in a horticulture-related field
  • Students must either be a citizen or resident of the United States or Canada OR be enrolled in an accredited educational institution in the United States or Canada.
  • Up to American Floral Endowment six scholarships may be applied for.


  • Applications with more than six scholarships selected will not be reviewed.
