The K.M. Hunter Charitable Foundation supports giving in three main areas, Social Services, The Arts and the Environment. Within all three portfolios we are committed to supporting organizations dedicated to helping those who are marginalized, including the homeless, disadvantaged youth, women, aboriginal voices, the LGBTQ community, and preserving and protecting habitat for endangered species in Ontario.
The KM Hunter Foundation is committed to supporting a number of smaller institutions where our grants can have a larger impact.
We are based in Toronto.
Arts & Culture Grants
Within the cultural section of the foundation we support organizations that reflect the disciplines of Visual Art, Music, Dance, Literature, Film and Video and Theatre.
In the Social Services portfolio, all other smaller grants go to shelters, food banks, and social service programs for youth.
Within the Environmental portfolio we support three areas:
- Protection of wildlife species,
- Stewardship of land, and
- Organizations that fight to change the laws so that environmental areas can be protected.
All organizations must be based in Ontario.
Check out our new videos of releasing baby turtles at Rondeau park. This project supports the preservation of Fresh Water Turtles through Wildlife Preservation Canada.
You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website.
- We only support organizations based in Ontario, Canada.
- Grants are made to registered Charitable Organizations.
- One-time grants are provided for initiatives to help develop new ventures in the three areas of giving.
- An example of this is a one-time gift to help build the Opera House or a gift to help develop a new program for saving an endangered species in a wetland area.
We do not support any other Medical research or International organizations with the exception of these two programs: Hospital for Sick Children for research into Autism and the Aids in Africa crisis.
