About this funder:
The Mary Black Foundation’s three focus areas for grant funding include: Early Childhood Development, Healthy Eating | Active Living, and Community Health Fund. Mid-way through the April 2020 grant application cycle, we shifted funding focus to support core operating expenses and projects that were responding to the impact of COVID-19 on our community.
Additionally, during the COVID-19 crisis, our staff has been talking with and listening to local nonprofit organizations to learn about the community’s needs during these unprecedented times. We have heard three common themes: Basic Needs, Mental Health, and Education & Health Lag. Additionally, we have heard organizations talk about their short-term needs and long-term needs.
As a result, the Foundation has developed a Short-term Needs Application and a Long-term Needs Application.
The Long-term Needs Application will allow for organizations to apply for programs, projects, or systems-level work that address the themes of Basic Needs, Mental Health, and Education & Health Lag.
An Alternative Application is also available for organizations that have recently submitted a similar grant application to another funder. This shortened application will allow organizations to upload an application that was completed within the last 6 months for another funder. This Alternative Application can still be used for either Short-term Needs or Long-term Needs, as described above.
