MBIA Foundation and Corporate Citizenship

Giving back to the community and helping families and children in need is encouraged at MBIA. The MBIA Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization which sponsors projects and programs that enhance the overall quality of life in the communities where we conduct business and where MBIA employees live and work.   

The Foundation's mission is accomplished through its Matching Gift, Grant, and Dollars-for-Doers Programs as well as its Day of Service and Remembrance. In 2017, the MBIA Foundation donated nearly $1 million in matching funds to charitable organizations as well as over $500,000 in grants and sponsorships.

Focus Areas

Education

The foundation supports programs designed to serve children and their developmental needs; provide materials and transportation; encourage parent involvement; help children stay in school; promote children's education beyond the classroom; and foster life-long learning.

Health Services

The foundation supports programs designed to promote research, education, and awareness of particular diseases or health related risks. The foundation also supports programs designed to enhance the care and quality of life of the sick, disabled, and their caregivers.

Human Services

The foundation supports programs designed to provide food and shelter to benefit entire families.

    • General operating support
    • Fundraising activities related to individual sponsorship
    • Capital campaigns
    • Endowments
    • Fundraising events
  • No support for discriminatory organizations, political or lobbying organizations, religious, fraternal, athletic, social, or veterans' organizations not of direct benefit to the entire community, or umbrella agencies such as the United Way.
