Michigan Clean Diesel Program

What is the Michigan Clean Diesel Program?

Four parked school bussesThe Michigan Clean Diesel Program brings government, industry, and nonprofit organizations to address diesel engine emissions. The objectives of the program are to help meet the federal air quality standards for particulate matter and ozone and to reduce nitrogen oxides by:

  • Working in geographic and industrial areas to identify where environmental improvements can be made through diesel emissions reductions.
  • Encouraging development and expansion of technologies that can be used by industry to implement diesel emissions reductions at the local level.
  • Identifying funding and resources that can be used to implement diesel emissions reduction technologies and strategies.
  • Expanding awareness of the benefits of pollution prevention strategies that reduce diesel emissions.

Michigan Clean Diesel Grant Program

The 2019 Clean Diesel Request for Proposal (RFP) is now open and is seeking projects that involve the early replacement of old diesel vehicles and equipment. Funds to support this grant opportunity come from the DEQ and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency via an allocation authorized by the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act.
