About this funder:

Support for Those Impacted by COVID-19

As our community faces the coronavirus outbreak, we recognize that the impact on our community systems including health care, education and business is truly unprecedented. We are grateful for the number of helpers facing this uncertainty and taking action to make sure the most vulnerable among us are cared for. Beginning in March 2020 we have established relief funding through our Essential Needs Fund. From new gifts earmarked for COVID-19 relief, the Community Foundation’s goal is to help individuals and families in crisis and also to stabilize our local nonprofit sector, a key employer in Emmet County. Specifically:

  • Grants may be used to provide flexible dollars to local organizations that are helping our community’s most vulnerable residents with increased or unexpected needs due to the COVID-19 pandemic that, if unmet, could result in a crisis situation for those individuals and their families.
  • Grants may also support the general operations of nonprofit organizations within all sectors of the community that have experienced considerable financial hardship due to COVID-19. For operating support from the Essential Needs Fund, organizations must demonstrate that their hardship is due to COVID-19. For example, but not limited to, large increase in demand for services, lost earned revenue due to cancelled events, closed resale stores or cancelled or reduced fundraisers.

You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website.

  • 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations, faith-based organizations or houses of worship providing support to the community regardless of religious affiliation, educational and government organizations in Emmet County or serving Emmet County residents are generally eligible.
    • Note: if your organization has not received a grant from the Community Foundation previously, we may request additional information.

  • Annual giving campaigns.
  • Services commonly recognized as government or school obligations.
  • Endowments.
  • Deficit funding or debt retirement, including operating budget deficits or shortfalls that existed prior to the COVID-19 pandemic; we may consider requests for debt payment related to short-term debt service needs (i.e. mortgage payments).
  • Religious programs or operations that advocate specific religious doctrines or do not serve the broader community.
  • Operational support for religious houses of worship.
  • Support directly to individuals.
