Colorado’s most comprehensive water information resource, the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) was created to provide policy direction on water issues.
Producers of gas, oil, coal, metals, and molybdenum pay a severance tax. The funds go into a State Severance Tax Trust Fund. After July 1995 one-quarter of the revenue goes into an Operational Account in the Fund. The Account exists primarily to provide grants for regional water resource planning studies and associated demonstration projects. The programs supported by the Account must promote natural resource planning, management and development related to minerals, energy, geology and water within the State of Colorado.
The funds from the Account can be used for a study or demonstration project that will benefit a wide range of people and organizations, and/or a large geographic area within Colorado. Approved grants must be able to begin the project 6 months after the application date and complete the project within 12 months.
You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website.
- Any private or public entity that can contract with the state and that can establish and document the need for the project is eligible to apply.
