The Society for Applied Microbiology is one of the world's leading microbiology societies. It is recognised internationally for the support it provides the microbiological community, the scientific integrity and quality of its academic journals and its accurate and evidence-based communications.
The Small Research Projects and Equipment Fund is available for SfAM members supervising a postgraduate research student, who has no funding from an additional source. The fund will cover consumables, bench fees or a small piece of equipment required to complete their studies in the area of applied microbiology.
Applications require official approval from the applicant’s employing institution but are not limited to those of any status (e.g. lecturer, professor, postdoc etc.). Free ECS Undergraduate membership will be offered to the student for the remainder of the year if funding is successful.
Reimbursement of the grant will only be paid to the institution by bank transfer directly into one appropriate bank account, normally in GB pounds sterling, euro or US/Canadian/Australian dollars. Under no circumstances will intermediary banks be used.
You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website.
- The applicant must be an existing Full, International or Life Member of the Society and have been so for a minimum of 12 months, and have paid their second consecutive subscription to be eligible to apply (subscription payments do not apply to Life Members).
You must be a member of this organization to apply for this award - become a member.
- Please note that the funding provided through the Small Research Projects and Equipment Fund cannot be used as payment in lieu of salary.
- A member may not apply for further assistance from the Small Research Projects and Equipment Fund for 2 years.
