Overview:

NOTE: there is no deadline for this award but applications must be received by the Society at least four weeks prior to the start of the project.

The Society for Applied Microbiology is one of the world's leading microbiology societies. It is recognised internationally for the support it provides the microbiological community, the scientific integrity and quality of its academic journals and its accurate and evidence-based communications.

Research Support Grant

The fund is available for SfAM Members supervising a postgraduate research student, who has no funding from an additional source. Both the applicant and student must be members of the Society. The fund will cover consumables or a small piece of equipment required to complete their studies in the area of applied microbiology.

The maximum amount available for the grant is £2500.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must be an existing Full, International or Life Member of the Society and have been so for a minimum of 12 months, and have paid their second consecutive subscription to be eligible to apply (subscription payments do not apply to Life Members).
  • The Student must also be a member of SfAM.
