Overview:

The Society offers Full, International and Life Members the opportunity to give undergraduate students and recent graduates, studying microbiology as part of their degree programme, the opportunity to obtain work experience. Grants can be made available to any Full, International or Life Member who is able to offer a suitable work placement for a period of up to 8 weeks. One year’s free membership will be offered to every student upon approval of the application. 


Maximum award: £250 per week for student support (for a maximum of eight weeks) and up to £500 for specified research costs/consumables.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must be an existing Full, International or Life Member of the Society and have been so for a minimum of 12 months and have paid their second consecutive subscription to be eligible to apply (subscription payments do not apply to Life Members).
  • Applicants can normally only apply for a Student Placement Scholarship every two years. 

You must be a member of this organization to apply for this award - become a member. The applicant must be an existing Full, International or Life Member of the Society and have been so for a minimum of 12 months and have paid their second consecutive subscription to be eligible to apply (subscription payments do not apply to Life Members).
