About The Society

The Society for the Study of Evolution was founded in March, 1946. The objectives of the Society for the Study of Evolution are the promotion of the study of organic evolution and the integration of the various fields of science concerned with evolution. The Society publishes the scientific journal Evolution and holds annual meetings in which scientific findings on evolutionary biology are presented and discussed.

Graduate Research Excellence Grant (GREG) - Rosemary Grant Advanced Award

The GREG - Rosemary Grant Advanced Awards are to assist students in the later stages of their Ph.D. programs. Funds can be used to enhance the scope of dissertation research, such as to conduct additional experiments or field work. Awards up to $3500. Only students who have advanced to candidacy are eligible, which can be confirmed by the advisor or graduate director stating that the student fulfills that requirement and is eligible. Students should confirm that the proposed work is outside other funding held by either the student or their advisor.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants AND their mentors must be members of SSE
  • Only students who have advanced to candidacy are eligible, which can be confirmed by the advisor or graduate director stating that the student fulfills that requirement and is eligible. 
  • Students should confirm that the proposed work is outside other funding held by either the student or their advisor. 
  • Funding is not limited to any particular aspect of research.
