Overview:

Toxicology is the study of the adverse effects of chemical, physical, or biological agents on living organisms and the ecosystem, including the prevention and amelioration of such adverse effects.

Founded in 1961, the Society of Toxicology (SOT) is a professional and scholarly organization of scientists from academic institutions, government, and industry representing the great variety of scientists who practice toxicology in the US and abroad. The Society’s mission is to create a safer and healthier world by advancing the science and increasing the impact of toxicology.

The Angelo Furgiele Young Investigator Technology Award Endowment Fund will provide proceeds to be used for an award to be presented to a young investigator in the field of reproductive and developmental toxicology to purchase technological enhancements such as computer hardware, software or analytical equipment that will facilitate the conduct of research by the award recipient.

Eligibility:

  • The award recipient shall be a young investigator working in a non-profit institution such as a college or university.
    • A young investigator for this purpose is defined as an individual at an early stage of their career, including graduate students, and the individual is less than 10 years post-receipt of a doctoral degree. 
  • The entirety of the award must be used to cover equipment cost.
