The Summit Foundation is recognized as the leading philanthropic organization for Summit County, CO and its neighbors. We are committed to creating ever better mountain communities by providing leadership that results in improving the quality of life for residents.

The Summit Foundation supports charitable organizations that enhance the quality of life in Summit County and Neighboring Communities in Colorado.

Grants are awarded twice each year, in June and in December, to agencies providing programs or services in the areas of bright futures, community enrichment, environmental stewardship, and health and safe communities.

  • Applicants must be tax exempt under the provisions of section 501(c)(3) and 170(b)(1)(a)(i.V.I.) of the Internal Revenue Code. 
  • Organizations in, or serving the population of Summit County, Colorado as well as our neighboring counties of Lake, Grand, and Park are eligible to apply for a grant from The Summit Foundation.
  • Some general operating grants are made, typically for organizations that previously received program funding. 


  • The following types of requests are ineligible:
    • Political campaigns on behalf of any issues or candidate.
    • Religious programs that require membership in a certain religion or advance a particular religious faith.
      • Faith-based organizations may be eligible if they welcome and serve all members of the community regardless of religious faith, and do not require participation in activities that are specifically religious.
    • Programs or projects that are already completed.
