About this funder:



The purpose of this Society shall be to:

  • Advance the science of vertebrate paleontology throughout the world
  • Serve the common interests and facilitate the cooperation of all persons concerned with the history, evolution, ecology, comparative anatomy and taxonomy of vertebrate animals, as well as the field occurrence, collection and study of fossil vertebrates and the stratigraphy of the beds in which they are found
  • Support and encourage the discovery, conservation, and protection of vertebrate fossils and fossil sites
  • Foster the scientific, educational, and personal appreciation and understanding of vertebrate fossils and fossil sites by avocational, student and professional paleontologists and the general public

The Student Member Travel Grant was developed to encourage student participation in the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology annual meeting.

JSG travel grant amounts are awarded in panel designated amounts to domestic and international travelers to be determined by the panel upon review of applications. For 2016, international travelers are those coming from outside the US, Mexico, and Canada.

  • Applicants must be enrolled at a recognized academic institution.
  • Register for the conference once the registration system opens.
    • Registration will be confirmed prior to final award decisions.
  • Applicant must be the first author on a submitted oral or poster presentation.
    • You must apply for the award prior to receiving confirmation of your abstract acceptance due to decision timelines.
    • Final award decisions will be announced once abstract acceptance has been confirmed by the Program Committee.
