About this funder:



The Katharine M. Grosscup Scholarship in Horticulture celebrates friendship and the love of gardening within the GCA. It was founded in 1981 by Margaret Evans Berdan, Garden Club of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in memory of her friend Katharine MacConnell Grosscup, a talented gardener, enthusiastic conservationist and active member of the Shaker Lakes Garden Club in Ohio.  

This scholarship provides multiple students with funding of up to $3500 each to encourage the study of horticulture and related fields.

  • Open to rising college sophomores, juniors, seniors and Master’s degree candidates majoring in horticulture or related fields at institutions in IN, KY, MI, OH, PA or WV.
  • Only one GCA scholarship may be applied for annually.
  • Students with competitive GPAs are encouraged to apply.
