About this funder:

NOTE: Our Steering Committee is in place and comprised of three community members and four members of the VVF Board of Directors and Executive Team. This committee will meet weekly and deploy funds over the coming months to the areas of greatest need.

VVF Community Fund

In addition to arts, athletics and education, a critical role of the VVF, in good times or bad, has been and always will be, community. COVID-19 has impacted everyone, but for many in our community, the impact of coronavirus has been catastrophic. We felt it was incumbent on us all to reach out to those who have been hit hardest by these unusual times, which is why we created the VVF Community Fund.

This community is truly special. It is a place where everyone does everything they can, whenever they can, to support one another. For that we are incredibly grateful. When the VVF Community Fund was initially launched on April 22, we set a goal to raise $450,000; all of which would be matched by our generous Vail Valley Foundation Board of Directors. We are thrilled to report that we not only met that goal, but far exceeded it, raising nearly $1.5 million and providing a wave of much-needed relief to our Eagle County community members hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.

How the fund will benefit the community

Funds raised will be distributed to approximately 20 local nonprofits representing four key areas of need in the community. Based on known needs and thoughtful discussion, by a steering committee, gifts will support the following critical issues:

Food Insecurity: We are seeing a staggering increased demand for food by families in need. Nearly 14,000 Eagle County residents are accessing weekly food assistance.

Mental & Behavioral Health: There is a dramatic rise in the need for mental and behavioral health, and domestic violence services in our valley.

Shelter and Household Assistance: Individuals and families in our valley are not able to meet basic needs.

Youth Education and Programming: COVID-19 caused a terrible disruption to the critical education and social and emotional health of our valley’s children and youth.
