Overview:

The Walters Family Foundation was established in 1999 with the primary interest of funding activities or organizations which address the needs of youth, families, and the elderly. The Foundation has a commitment to bettering the lives of the less fortunate with a particular interest in local community centers and public park and recreation department programs.

In addition, the Foundation's efforts are aimed at programs which enable at-risk individuals and at-risk families to become productive and self-sufficient members of society, as well as contributing to the overall betterment of society.

Eligibility:

  • The Foundation only distributes funds to organizations which qualify as public charities under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 as amended. 

Preferences:

  • The Foundation generally limits its funding to organizations located in the state of Oregon, with preference given to organizations within metropolitan Portland, particularly in the Hillsboro area.

Ineligibility:

  • The Foundation generally does not support endowments, annual or year-end appeals, general operating funds, or grants to individuals.
