Our Giving Priorities

Wells Fargo makes contributions in areas that we believe are important to the future of our communities’ vitality and success. We focus our giving along a continuum of community development, education and human services to help at-risk young people, ages 0-17, living in low- to moderate-income communities have equal access to opportunity by:

  • Creating a foundation for success through quality day care & early educational opportunities – Focus Ages: 0-5 yr olds
  • Instilling the ability and confidence to choose a positive path through education programs that close the achievement gap and develop leadership skills – Focus Ages: 10-14 yr olds
  • Developing the skills needed to achieve economic mobility through college and career readiness – Focus Ages: 14-17 yr olds

Wells Fargo also considers grants in the following areas:

Human Services

  • Elimination of food insecurity through support of food banks, school-based feeding programs and urban community gardens
  • Creation of affordable housing to provide safe, stable homes for individuals and families
  • Health and wellbeing programs providing trauma-informed care for young people facing mental health challenges brought on by poverty

Military Veterans

  • Health and wellbeing programs for military veterans and their families to ensure they collectively succeed in civilian life

Arts and Culture

  • Facilitating access to and participation in cultural experiences for young people
  • Ensuring the availability of a broad array of artistic opportunities and venues that reflect the community’s diversity

Eligibility:

  • Wells Fargo makes contributions to organizations with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)3 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, as well as qualified tribal and governmental agencies, including public school systems.

Ineligibility:

  • Please note that Wells Fargo is unable to consider grants for the following:
    • Alumni organizations
    • Animal-related causes (for example, rescue societies)
    • Beauty pageants
    • Capital or endowment campaigns
    • Film or video production, including documentaries
    • For-profit entities
    • Foundations, including community and family foundations and single-issue or cause-related foundations
    • Fundraising dinners or events and tickets to fundraising events
    • Hospitals and clinics
    • Individual sports teams including youth sports teams and leagues
    • Individuals including those seeking scholarships, fellowships, or sponsors for a particular cause
    • International organizations
    • Labor, religious, fraternal, military, and professional association activities unless they are engaged in programs that are non-sectarian, benefit a broad base of the community, and have a separate 501(c)(3) designation
    • Marketing, advertising and promotional items or merchandise
    • Multi-year commitments and pledges
    • National initiatives (however, we do encourage requests from local affiliates for programs occurring in our region)
    • Organizations designed primarily for lobbying
    • Organizations outside of Wells Fargo communities
    • Personnel and operating expenses
    • Political action committees, candidates, causes, and lobbying
    • Research projects
    • Single disease issues
    • Travel, including conferences, seminars, tours and student trips
