The Western Colorado Community Grants Fund is designed to respond to unmet needs as they arise in our communities, help local nonprofit organizations leverage matching grants and fund new projects that benefit the entire community.

WCCF began awarding its first community grants in 2005 from a donation made by the Boettcher Foundation. Community grants totaled $27,260 that first year, distributed to a variety of nonprofits across our seven counties.
A major long-term goal for our Community Foundation is to increase the availability of discretionary funds (Community Grants Fund and Field-of-Interest Funds) to better and more fully meet needs in the communities we serve.

Community grant recommendations are developed each year by the board’s Community Grants Committee. The committee’s recommendations are reviewed and approved by the full board of directors at their November quarterly meeting. At this time, there is no application process for nonprofit organizations to submit proposals to the WCCF Community Grants Fund. Nonprofit organizations are encouraged to submit an Organizational Summary as an informal means to share information on mission, goals and projects with WCCF staff. Appropriate projects may be forwarded to the Community Grants Committee for consideration. Additionally, WCCF staff may be aware of donor-directed funds that would have an interest in supporting your organization or project.
