Alaska Workforce Investment Board

Alaska Technical Vocational Education Program (TVEP)

In 2000, legislation was enacted establishing the Alaska Technical Vocational Education Program. Recipients of TVEP non-competitive grant funds are part of a statewide vocational training system, working together with industry and state agencies to provide a comprehensive and unified response to Alaska's training needs.

TVEP funds must be used for technical and vocational training programs that align with workforce regional demands and the Alaska Workforce Investment Board’s industry priorities. The AWIB’s policy on vocational and technical education entitled "Alaska's Future Workforce Strategic Policies and Investment Blueprint” describes Alaska’s framework and guiding principles for development of technical and vocational education within Alaska’s workforce development system.

To preserve and interpret Alaska's rich maritime heritage the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and the State Libraries, Archives, and Museums (LAM) announce the launch of the Alaska Maritime Heritage Preservation Program. This program is designed to protect Alaska's maritime resources and advance public awareness of Alaska's nationally significant maritime properties, collections, traditional skills, and knowledge.

The Alaska Maritime Heritage Preservation Program will offer Alaskans two new grant opportunities for preservation and education projects.

Applicants for preservation grants can request from $15,000-$75,000 and applications for education grants can request from $10,000-$50,000.

Eligible projects must support the preservation, education, or interpretation of Alaska’s maritime heritage by addressing approved resource categories and demonstrating clear public benefit. Applications should reflect strong community value and alignment with program goals.

Projects must address one or more of the following resource categories:

• Maritime heritage collections
• Traditional maritime skills
• Maritime education activities
• Historic maritime properties (meeting National Register significance criteria)

Applications must also demonstrate:

• How proposed activities directly benefit one or more eligible resource categories
• Community and heritage value, supported through letters or documentation
• Clear alignment with program intent, including preservation, documentation, and education/interpretation of maritime heritage

The Great Apes and Gibbons Program Grant, administered by the Arcus Foundation, supports conservation efforts for great apes and gibbons across 24 priority landscapes in Africa and Asia. Senior Housing Accessibility Modification Program (Senior Access Program)

NOFA Purpose and General Provisions

Under this Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA), Alaska Housing Finance Corporation will provide funding to successful respondents to act as a Grantee under the Senior Housing Accessibility Modification Program (Senior Access Program).

The Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) is well-positioned to generate new knowledge and solutions for these evolving global change and sustainability issues by supporting collaborative research and scientific capacity development activities, particularly those aimed at training the next generation of early career professionals.

APN 2025 Call for Proposals: CAPaBLE Programmes

CAPaBLE, our scientific capacity development programme, aims to enhance the capacity of scientists, policymakers and practitioners to assess global change issues, and explore options to resolve issues towards achieving sustainability. Through CAPaBLE, we support activities that enhance capacity at individual, organizational and systemic levels.

Activities of interest under the CAPaBLE Programme

APN supports CAPaBLE activities that enhance existing capacities of developing countries at three levels of individual-based capacity development; group, organisation, network-based capacity development; and societies, governance, and system level capacity development. APN accepts CAPaBLE proposals that engage 1 or more member/approved countries. Proposals must address one or more of the following activities:

SCIENTIFIC CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES that promote the following approaches related to one or more of the six thematic areas of APN:

• Utilising and strengthening existing capacity, 
• Creating opportunities to use/instil capacity,

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) intends to issue a Broad Pragmatic Studies (BPS) PCORI Funding Announcement (PFA) on Aug. 4, 2026, seeking to fund high-impact, patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) projects. This preannouncement provides potential applicants additional time to identify collaborators; obtain patient and stakeholder input on potential studies; and develop responsive, high-quality applications. 

Patient-centered CER compares at least two available health treatments, services or care delivery strategies. PCORI seeks proposals that compare clinical interventions (e.g., pharmacological and nonpharmacological treatments, screening and diagnostic approaches) and healthcare delivery system interventions (e.g., workforce, technologies, healthcare service delivery designs) to evaluate potential benefits and harms of different treatment and care delivery options, thus generating evidence that empowers patients, caregivers and the broader healthcare community with information to make informed choices that reflect their needs and preferences. 

General Purpose

Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) was allocated U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Recovery Housing Program (RHP) funds to support Alaskans recovering from substance use disorders. These funds will be used to provide individuals in recovery from a substance use disorder stable, temporary housing.

Alaska Recovery Housing Program Proposals

Alaska Recovery Housing (ARH) program funds will be used for the purpose of supporting low and moderate-income Alaskans in recovery from substance use disorders on a path to self-sufficiency by providing 6-12 months of temporary housing with the goal of exiting into permanent housing.

The Express Health Information Outreach Awards aim to enhance public health by increasing access to biomedical information for U.S. health professionals and the general public. These awards support projects that improve health information literacy among consumers and caregivers, ensuring they can effectively find and utilize health information. Focused on partnerships and outreach to underrepresented communities, the initiative seeks to promote healthy behaviors, prevent illness, and improve health outcomes through informed decision-making.

The ASCA Youth Cultural Heritage Fast Track Grants support Alaskan organizations that provide cultural heritage programming for children and youth. Funded by the Rasmuson Foundation, this initiative aims to strengthen cultural knowledge and self-awareness among young Alaskans through arts-based activities. Grants of up to $3,000 are available for eligible applicants, including nonprofits and schools, to engage youth with artists and culture bearers, promoting cross-cultural understanding and community engagement.

The Vocational Fund for Alaska's Future Grants support projects aimed at developing a skilled workforce in Alaska's natural resource industries. Eligible applicants, including nonprofits and educational institutions, can apply for funding to enhance skills in areas like plumbing, welding, and engineering. Preference is given to initiatives benefiting rural communities and sectors such as oil and gas. This grant fosters career awareness and skill acquisition, promoting economic growth in Alaska.

The ASCA Workshop Grants provide funding for unique arts-related activities in Alaska, enabling community participation in disciplines like visual arts, music, and theater. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, schools, and local government agencies. Workshops must be open to the public and held by June 30 following the award. Grants cover instructor fees and travel expenses, with a match requirement of 50% of total costs. This opportunity aims to foster cultural heritage and support Alaskan artists.

The Alaska State Council on the Arts offers Youth Cultural Heritage Project Grants to support organizations delivering cultural heritage programs for children and youth in Alaska. In PCORI-funded research, patients and other research partners are expected to meaningfully contribute their lived experience or professional expertise to ensure studies are patient-centered, relevant and useful for healthcare decision making. Applicants must address PCORI’s Foundational Expectations for Partnerships in Research — an evidence-based framework supported by tools and resources to guide effective engagement strategies. Applicants are also strongly encouraged to consider the inclusion of a broad range of patient-centered burdens and economic outcomes. 

Broad Pragmatic Studies PFA: Category 1, Category 2 and Category 3 Study Specifications

PCORI will commit up to $120 million in direct costs through this funding opportunity. This funding opportunity contains three categories for funding:

• Category 1: Category 1 will support research projects with direct costs up to and including $5 million.

• Category 2: Category 2 will support research projects with direct costs greater than $5 million and up to a maximum of $12 million. Applications for funding under Category 2 will be required to provide additional information in the Letter of Intent (LOI) and application to justify the size and scope of the proposed research projects and to explain how additional funds are necessary with respect to the scale, scope and complexity of personnel and material resources needed to address the research question.

• Category 3: Category 3 will support research projects with direct costs up to $12 million that utilize PCORnet® to conduct observational studies and/or pragmatic trials that are national in scale. Category 3 PCORnet Studies® must include two or more Clinical Research Networks and share study progress, performance metrics and best practices with the network to promote continuous learning and improvement. PCORnet Studies® will leverage the PCORnet Common Data Model® as appropriate. Additional details about Category 3 can be found on the PCORI website.  

The Franz Bakery Foundation Grant supports local charitable organizations focused on family support, youth development, and hunger reduction in areas served by Franz Bakery. With an average grant amount of $3,000, the Foundation aims to foster respect, equity, and inclusion within communities. Eligible applicants must be 501c3 tax-exempt nonprofits located in specific states and align with the Foundation's mission. Organizations can reapply annually, although applications do not roll over to the next year.

The Marvin R. and Pearl E. Patterson Family Fund Scholarship, offered by the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation, supports students aspiring to study graphic or fine arts, as well as those interested in environmental sciences. Open to high school graduates from the Tri-Cities area, this scholarship considers leadership, community involvement, and academic achievements, although financial need is not a requirement. Applicants must provide transcripts and relevant documents to qualify for this opportunity.

The TourWest Grants, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, aim to support presenters and organizations in the Western region by providing flexible funding for touring artists. Eligible applicants include social or natural science graduate students and upper-level undergraduates. The grant can cover various project expenses, fostering innovative approaches to restore natural systems while promoting the diversity of life in the region.

The ASCA: Artists in Schools Grants aim to enhance the arts curriculum in Alaska's public and private schools through artist residencies. Grants of up to $5,000 for individual schools and $15,000 for districts support various arts experiences, professional development, and community engagement. Schools must match funding, ensuring sustainability and collaboration. Eligible applicants include public school districts, private nonprofits, and parent groups, fostering a rich artistic environment for students.
