Cherokee Nation Foundation

The Cherokee Nation Foundation is a nonprofit organization serving the Cherokee Nation, a federally recognized tribe of more than 470,000 citizens. Its mission is to provide educational opportunities to Cherokee students so they can reach their full potential. Scholarships

Cherokee Nation Foundation offers a diverse range of scholarships to help reverse the trend of rising student debt. Students may receive up to two CNF scholarships per academic year. All opportunities are reserved for Cherokee Nation citizens, unless otherwise noted in the description.

Clarkson Family Scholarship

Applicant must be a current full-time student or a graduating high school senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA, attending a college/university or higher education institution in New England (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Vermont). This is a one-year scholarship reserved for Cherokee Nation citizens.

The Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF) offers the Systems Improvement and Innovation Responsive Grants Program to enhance health equity across Maine. This program, launched in 2020, complements previous grant initiatives by focusing on traditional systems-based organizations. It aims to improve access to healthcare in rural areas, support aging populations, address behavioral health issues, and promote maternal and child health. The MEHAF Meeting Support Program offers grants to facilitate meetings aimed at improving health access in Maine, especially for populations facing barriers. Organizations eligible for funding must comply with MeHAF's nondiscrimination policy and can receive only one grant per year. The Extension Risk Management Education (ERME) Competitive Grants focus on underutilization of crop insurance projects to enhance agricultural producers' economic viability. This initiative, backed by the Northeast ERME Center and others, provides funding to deliver education in various risk management areas. Grants up to $100,000 are available for projects running from April 2026 to September 2027, with plans to support 7-10 new projects based on quality applications and funding availability.

The Maine Expansion Arts - BIPOC program, initiated by the Maine Community Foundation, aims to enhance access to arts for Black, Indigenous, and people of color in rural Maine. This initiative supports organizations that empower BIPOC communities through arts-based programs, ensuring representation and inclusivity. Eligible schools can receive up to $14,000 to cover participation fees and training costs. This grant encourages public, private, and charter schools across the U.S. to enhance their science curriculum, supporting students with engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Schools must commit to offering specific courses during the grant period to qualify for funding.

The Leroy Lambert Political Action Grants, offered by the Maine Education Association, empower Local Association members to create and execute political action programs in their communities. These grants support initiatives that align with MEA policies, such as aiding the election of pro-education candidates and enhancing member participation in political processes. Matching Gifts Program

Full-time associates and recent retirees (up to 5 years after retirement) of Regions and its affiliated companies can request a Regions Matching Gift to eligible organizations. The Enterprise Marketing Grant, part of the Maine Tourism Marketing Partnership Program (MTMPP), aims to bolster tourism marketing initiatives that enhance visitor numbers to Maine destinations. With funding ranging from $5,000 to $30,000, the grant supports sustainable growth in the tourism economy. Eligible applicants include municipalities and non-profits based in Maine. The program emphasizes cash matching and requires a focus on attracting visitors from outside the local area to promote regional tourism development.

Nonprofit conservation and community organizations, municipalities, Tribal Nations, and agencies in Maine and other Appalachian states can seek up to US $100,000 for land protection projects that include strong community benefits. Focused on conserving resilient, connected habitats, The Nature Conservancy funds fee and easement acquisitions plus related project, stewardship, and engagement costs.

Funded by the University of Delaware, this initiative offers grants of up to $75,000 for projects addressing production, marketing, financial, legal, or human risks. The Maine Communities Grant supports community-driven tourism marketing projects with grants ranging from $2,500 to $5,000. Administered by the Maine Office of Tourism, the program aims to enhance the state's travel sector by promoting local initiatives. Eligible applicants include municipalities, tribal governments, and Maine-based nonprofits, while a combination of cash and in-kind matches is encouraged for effective project implementation. The grant fosters collaboration between the private sector and tourism regions for impactful marketing efforts.

The Special Event Grant, provided by the Maine Office of Tourism, aims to enhance the state's tourism economy by funding established events that attract new audiences and increase overnight stays. Grants range from $30,000 to $60,000, with two awards issued each fiscal year. Eligible applicants include Maine municipalities and 501C3 or C6 organizations, focusing on tourism projects that draw visitors from at least fifty miles away, promoting Maine's brand during the shoulder season.

By matching contributions dollar-for-dollar, up to $1,500, MEA empowers educators and their families during challenging times. This initiative underscores MEA's commitment to enhancing the welfare of its members and ensuring equitable education for all students in Maine. The program aims to alleviate financial burdens, promoting a supportive environment for educators and their communities.

This scholarship is awarded to a female or female-identified student from a high school in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne, or Wyoming county who has 50 or more documented volunteer hours and and who has a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The Robert E. Barnhill, Sr. Scholarship Fund provides financial support for North Carolina high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college or university as full-time students. Eligible applicants are evaluated on leadership potential, community involvement, academic achievement, and financial need. The scholarship may be renewed for up to three additional years, contingent upon maintaining a 2.0 GPA and continuous enrollment. Applications open on December 16, 2025, and close on March 3, 2026.
