Best Youth Sports Grants in Nebraska

Nebraska medical students interested in clinical, basic science, epidemiology, or health services research can access funding through Alpha Omega Alpha’s Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship. First- and second-year students at schools with active AΩA chapters receive US $7,000 for 2–12 month health and medicine projects, plus limited travel reimbursement to present results.

The Jetton Charitable Fund Grant aims to enhance youth cultural education in Omaha through performing and visual arts, and natural sciences. Expedited Off Cycle Grant

Due to the passage of Legislative Bill 1071 in April of 2026, there is included in the appropriation for Nebraska Tourism Commission dba Visit Nebraska to this program FY2025-26 $175,000 Cash Funds for state aid, which shall only be used for a marketing grant related to international volleyball events at a city of the metropolitan class. There is included in the appropriation to this program for FY2025-26 $150,000 Cash Funds for state aid, which shall only be used for a tourism and visitor promotion grant to an organization that provides tourism and visitor promotion services in the state through exhibits and trails and that is located along the Missouri River and within five miles of a city of the first class.

Organizations may request general operating, program, or capital support, with priority for work in the Omaha/Metro area and other locations within Lozier’s corporate footprint that benefit children and families.

The Nonpoint Source Management Grants (Section 319) support watershed-based projects aimed at restoring or protecting water quality. Funded by the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy, these grants provide financial assistance for implementing the Nonpoint Source Management Plan. Eligible entities include government units, educational institutions, and non-profits. Key details include a grant limit of $300,000, a 40% non-federal match requirement, and a project duration of up to 3 years.

Nonprofit and community organizations working on violence prevention and youth development in Nebraska can seek funding to reduce street and gang violence, firearm-related homicides and injuries, and support youth employment in high-crime areas. Scholarships

Generous donors to Lincoln Community Foundation have established 90 scholarship funds that benefit students in Lancaster County and across the state of Nebraska. For 2025, there were 299 scholarship recipients who received awards that totaled over $606,000. 

Glenn and Dorothy Schnieber Scholarship

The Glenn and Dorothy Schnieber Scholarship was established in 2021 by their family. Glenn and Dorothy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946. Neither of them was able to afford college. They bought a small business from Glenn’s dad and over the next 30 years they grew it into a successful wholesale food distributor, Schnieber Fine Foods. Education was always important to them. In their memory, the donors hope this scholarship will help recipients in Nebraska achieve their educational goals.

Recipients of this scholarship may renew the scholarship for the following year if they maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above, for a total of two years.

FNBO: Capital or Major Donations aims to support nonprofit organizations through significant financial contributions for capital projects. This initiative focuses on enhancing community well-being by addressing key areas such as affordable housing, environmental stability, and education. FNBO prioritizes partnerships with nonprofits dedicated to long-term impacts, especially for historically underrepresented populations. By fostering community engagement and providing essential resources, FNBO strives to create a positive influence in the regions it serves.

The Mosaic Company Foundation Community Investment Grant aims to create a lasting impact in communities by supporting initiatives in three key areas: Food, Water, and Local Community. With an annual investment of approximately $12 million, the foundation addresses food security, promotes water conservation, and enhances community sustainability. Eligible applicants must be recognized charitable organizations, primarily in North America, committed to improving quality of life through innovative solutions and partnerships.

The René M. Vandervelde Research Grant, offered by the Association of Applied Paleontological Sciences, provides $1000 annually to support students and researchers in marine paleontology, geology, or stratigraphy of the Late Cretaceous Pierre and Bearpaw Shales in North America. Established in 2007 with the support of Korite® International, the grant aims to promote scientific research and publications about the unique fauna and flora found in these geological deposits.

The Conservation Partners Grant Program, funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, supports private landowners in implementing regenerative agriculture and conservation practices. By awarding competitive grants, the program facilitates technical assistance for developing management plans and best practices, enabling landowners to maximize the ecological benefits of their lands. This initiative is crucial for enhancing fish and wildlife habitats, addressing pressing conservation issues, and promoting sustainable land stewardship across the United States.

The Malmsten Fund, established by Lincoln residents Carl and Salina Malmsten, provides annual gifts to retired Presbyterian pastors and their spouses in Nebraska. This fund honors the Malmsten's legacy of supporting those who served in the church, continuing their commitment even after the trust ended in 1980. Income from investments and proceeds from the sale of Clark Jeary Retirement Community further bolster this initiative, ensuring financial assistance for those in need.

The Kessler Emergency Assistance Fund, established by the Nebraska Presbyterian Foundation in 2018, honors Dr. Silas G. Kessler's legacy of ministry. This fund provides financial support to PCUSA pastors serving or retired from Nebraska congregations within specified presbyteries. Grants aim to assist those in need, reinforcing the commitment to pastoral care and community service in Central Nebraska, Homestead, and Missouri River Valley areas.
