Pat MacKay Diversity In Design Scholarships

Founded in 2019, and funded by LDI and Live Design, the goal of the Diversity In Design scholarships is to support underrepresented and unique voices in the field of entertainment design. The scholarships are named for Pat MacKay, former publisher of Theatre Crafts and Lighting Dimensions magazines and founder of the LDI Trade Show and Conference. MacKay is a USITT Fellow and has served as a mentor for multiple generations of industry professionals.

The Pat MacKay Diversity in Design scholarships are awarded to students currently enrolled in lighting, video/digital media, and sound design programs on an undergraduate level, as well as high school seniors who have been accepted to an undergraduate college, university, or community college design program.

Each student selected for one of the Pat MacKay Scholarships will receive up to $5,000, spread out over a maximum of eight semesters, or $1,250 per year, paid by semester directly to the school. In order for the students to get the next year’s payment, they must show progress toward their degree, show at least a 2.5 GPA, and provide a letter of support from their mentor with an update on how they are progressing as designers.

National Housing Innovation Grant Competition

Wells Fargo is meeting this moment with a powerful grant opportunity. Together with Enterprise, Wells Fargo has launched the third iteration of the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge. The 2026 cycle of the housing innovation competition will identify and propel proven, ready-to-scale solutions that transform current practices and increase housing choice and access.

Eligible applicants will compete for five individual grants of $2 million to advance their innovation and drive meaningful, systems-level change in the housing and adjacent industries. Winners will gain access to mentorship and coaching from industry leaders and experts and join a powerful network of Breakthrough Challenge innovators.

Focus Areas

This third cycle of the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge aims to meet the nation’s affordable housing challenges across all types of communities: Native, rural, suburban, tribal, and urban.

With an award of $1,000, this scholarship honors civic leader Andee Jorgensen and is available for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. Preference is given to those engaged in community service. The foundation aims to foster education and empower local youth to pursue their academic ambitions while overcoming challenges.

The Gupta Family Foundation Grant aims to empower disadvantaged individuals by providing financial support to organizations that foster self-reliance. Headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, the foundation offers grants ranging from $5,000 to over $250,000, prioritizing smaller organizations with a strong commitment to their missions. Eligibility typically includes US-based IRS 501(c)(3) entities, with operations extending to countries like India and Kenya. The foundation emphasizes mission alignment and effective resource allocation to ensure maximum impact.

The Greater Evansville USBCA Scholarship, established by the Greater Evansville USBCA, supports students from Posey, Vanderburgh, and Warrick counties who engage in community service and bowling activities. Eligible applicants must have been members of the USBCA for two of the past four years or be children of members with a minimum 2.0 GPA. The selection process considers academic performance, bowling involvement, community service, and submitted essays and recommendations.

The Peter C. Sotus, M.D. Scholarship is part of the Erie Community Foundation's initiative that awarded over $800,000 in scholarships in 2023 to support students pursuing post-secondary education. The Eleanor B. and Henry H. Stroud, M.D. Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Delaware Community Foundation, provides a one-time award of $5,000 to Delaware residents pursuing medical degrees. This scholarship emphasizes excellence, ethics, and compassion in medicine, along with financial need and academic promise. Eligible applicants can reapply for up to four annual awards, with special consideration for those demonstrating innovation in medicine. The DCF awarded a record $850,000 in scholarships to 245 students for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The Madeleine Chapter 204, Order of the Eastern Star Scholarship supports graduating seniors from Erie County, Ohio high schools, emphasizing financial need and community service. With a minimum GPA of 3.0, this scholarship can be renewed for up to three additional years, subject to the Scholarship Advisory Committee's discretion. Preference is given to applicants from Vermilion High School, fostering local talent and community engagement.

The John and Clara Corogin Scholarship, offered by the Erie County Community Foundation, supports minority graduating seniors from any Erie County, Ohio high school. This scholarship emphasizes financial need and the desire for higher education rather than just academic achievements. The Floyd Family Scholarship, established by the Erie County Community Foundation, supports graduating seniors from Erie County, Ohio, who aim to pursue degrees in music, music education, general education, or liberal arts. Preference is given to Huron High School graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0. This scholarship can be renewed for up to three additional years, ensuring long-term educational support for deserving students.

The Future Energy Leaders Scholarship, offered by the Delaware Community Foundation, supports graduating seniors from Sussex County high schools pursuing two or four-year degrees. Awardees receive $2,500 annually for four years, contingent on maintaining enrollment and demonstrating financial need. With a record $850,000 awarded to 245 students for the 2024-2025 school year, this scholarship aims to expand educational opportunities and equity within the community.

The Gerald D. Peet Scholarship honors the legacy of Gerald D. Peet by providing financial assistance to eligible American Indian and Alaska Native graduate or professional students pursuing degrees in Medicine at accredited institutions. This need-based award, administered by Native Forward, offers varying amounts from $100 to $30,000 per academic year, based on financial aid information from the institution's Financial Aid Office.

The PEO, Chapter BE Scholarship, offered by the Erie County Community Foundation, supports female graduates of Erie County high schools pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees. Since 1995, the foundation has focused on enhancing community needs and leadership, aiming for a lasting impact in Erie County, Ohio. This renewable scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Scholarship Advisory Committee, ensuring continued support for students dedicated to their academic pursuits.

Scholarship amounts vary depending on the scholarship applied for. Applicants are encouraged to apply for as many awards as they are eligible to increase the likelihood of receiving one or more awards.

Scholarships can be used for cost of attendance, direct education expenses, including tuition, books, and/or other school-related fees.

Bob Suddeth 4-H Scholarship Fund

The Bob Suddeth 4-H Scholarship supports DeKalb County graduating seniors who have been active in 4-H for at least six years, including their senior year of high school, and who plan to pursue agriculture-related education. Financial need is an important consideration, and students may attend any accredited trade school, college, or university. 

The Sandusky Bay Kiwanis Community Services Scholarship supports graduating seniors from several high schools in Erie County, Ohio, including Huron, Margaretta, Perkins, Sandusky, and St. Mary’s Central Catholic. To qualify, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 and demonstrate a commitment to community service and financial need. This scholarship aims to empower students to contribute positively to their communities while furthering their education.
