Quality Life Services Healthcare Career Scholarship Fund

Quality Life Services has a long history of providing quality healthcare in Western Pennsylvania. In 1973, Kenneth R Tack Sr. and his sons Philip E. Tack and Kenneth R Tack Jr. founded Sugar Creek Rest in Worthington, PA. Quality Life Services has since expanded to include Chicora Medical Center in Chicora, PA; Trinity Living Center in Grove City, PA; Countryside in Mercer, PA; South Fayette Nursing Center in Markleysburg, PA; Henry Clay Villa in Markleysburg, PA; West Haven Manor in Apollo PA; Golden Hill Nursing and Rehab in New Castle, PA; Quality Pharmacy in Chicora, PA; and Fair Winds Manor in Sarver, PA.

Since its origination, Quality Life Services has been committed to providing exceptional healthcare services and career opportunities to thousands of people in our community. The USTA Wheelchair Tennis Grassroots Grant supports the growth of wheelchair tennis nationwide, having invested over $650,000 since 2008. This funding aims to enhance grassroots programs, focusing on attracting new junior players. Grants are tailored to each program's budget and needs, facilitating essential resources such as coaching, court time, and equipment. However, applications for tournament travel or multiple wheelchair purchases are discouraged, ensuring funds are used effectively to develop the sport for young athletes.

The Gerald M. Friedman Fund Grant, established in 2002, honors the contributions of Gerald M. Friedman to sedimentary geology. It supports graduate students in their research and travel for professional development. Eligible candidates must be in good academic standing and have completed at least one semester of graduate study. This fund, initiated by Friedman's former students, reflects his legacy in academia and the field of sedimentary geology.

The AICEF Overseas Travel Grant provides funding of $3,000 to Indonesian PhD students enrolled in accredited US universities for dissertation research in Indonesia. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to returning to Indonesia after their studies and show preparedness in their field. Scholarships

The CBCF scholarship is open each year. Scholarships awarded will be for the following academic year. Scholarships are available only to students who graduated from a high school in one of the counties in the CBCF Service Area: Aransas, Bee, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, Refugio and San Patricio. Thanks to our generous donors, the Coastal Bend Community Foundation (CBCF) offers scholarships to students from over 100 funds.

Nueces County Junior Livestock Show Scholarships

This scholarship is open to any active member of a Nueces County FFA or FCCLA chapter or 4-H club who will graduate this academic year and has actively participated in the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show for at least two of his/her high school years.

College Attendance Requirements: It is mandatory that the scholarship winner attend a college, university or certified vocational trade school the fall semester immediately following selection and use the scholarship funds beginning that semester. Only with special permission from the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show Scholarship Committee may the use of the scholarship be deferred one year.

Criteria used in selecting scholarship recipients will include: (1) Stock show participation (2) FFA, FCCLA or 4-H participation (3) Academic achievement (4) College Exams and (5) Interview.

The ASNT Foundation's Faculty Grant aims to enhance nondestructive testing (NDT) education at US universities and colleges. By providing $10,000 in funding, this grant supports faculty in revising or developing NDT curricula. Recipients who are not ASNT members receive a complimentary one-year membership. The initiative focuses on improving educational quality in the NDT field, ensuring students receive top-notch instruction, thus paving the way for successful careers in nondestructive testing.

The J. Thomas Dutro Jr. Student Award, presented by the Paleontological Research Institution, recognizes the significance of systematic research in paleontology. This $500 award is open to graduate students (Masters or Ph.D.) engaged in systematic paleontology research. Eligible expenses include research supplies, bench fees, and travel for fieldwork or conferences, supporting the academic growth of promising paleontologists.

The Teaching Artist Training program aims to empower arts education providers in Philadelphia by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality, inclusive, and equitable programming for youth. Recognizing that the quality of instructors significantly influences students' experiences in the arts, the program focuses on teacher training, mentorship, and community-building initiatives. This collaborative approach seeks innovative ideas from local communities to enhance arts education opportunities, ensuring they are welcoming and relevant for young learners.

The William Penn Foundation aims to enhance voter participation in Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania by addressing disparities in voter turnout among various demographic groups. With an increasing number of registered voters, the foundation focuses on educating underrepresented communities about the electoral process. By analyzing voter turnout trends and collaborating with research institutions, they strive to ensure that all Pennsylvanians, particularly those from communities of color, have the opportunity to make their voices heard in elections.

The Community Greening Plans RFP aims to enhance urban green spaces, addressing inequitable access driven by historical discrimination. By involving communities in planning, the initiative seeks to improve physical and mental health while reducing crime and pollution. It emphasizes the importance of local engagement to prevent gentrification and displacement, ensuring that long-time residents benefit from green investments. This approach not only fosters a sense of belonging but also promotes sustainable urban development.

The William Penn Foundation is offering funding to enhance enrollment in high-quality early childhood education (ECE) programs. This initiative aims to increase the number of high-quality seats, improve existing ECE programs, and support providers in achieving full enrollment. Strategies may include workforce training, financial assistance, and technical support, all directed at ensuring that families can access the best educational opportunities for their children, particularly in maintaining high-quality standards.

The Circuit Trails initiative aims to enhance the Greater Philadelphia area by adding 75 miles to the existing network by 2035. This expansion will promote outdoor access, improve health and well-being, and foster economic development through non-motorized transportation. With over 411 miles currently in place, the goal is to develop a comprehensive 850-mile network across communities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey by 2040, supported by a diverse coalition of organizations.

The Philadelphia Storm Water Grants program, offered by the Philadelphia Water Department, provides financial incentives for property owners and developers to enhance stormwater management. This initiative supports the design and construction of stormwater retrofit projects on non-residential properties, promoting improved landscaping and drainage solutions. By completing these projects, participants can qualify for reduced stormwater charges through the Stormwater Credits Program, contributing to a cleaner environment and aiding in the reduction of stormwater pollution in local waterways.
