Every team in your organization has its system.
Finance has accounting software. Development tracks donors in a CRM.
Now, Instrumentl is the system for grants.
This spring, we introduced Instrumentl as the grant operating system: one intelligent platform for grant work, where every stage of the grant lifecycle connects, and each stage makes the next one smarter.
This fall, we're expanding what system can help you achieve. With upgrades to how you find funders, manage award budgets, report across entities, and connect Instrumentl to the rest of your organization. We’re building a system of record that helps you, and your organization, level up.
A smarter operating system is built on accurate, complete data.
Throughout the year, you’ve flagged where our database still had gaps: expired grants in your recommendations, and thin coverage of state funding.
We spent this year building a Discover experience you can trust:

A smarter operating system meets you where you work.
Accurate data matters more the further it travels. Our goal is that you never enter the same piece of information twice. Grant data syncs into your CRM next to your donor data, spending flows in from your accounting system, and reminders land on your team's calendars automatically.
Instrumentl now integrates with 15 leading nonprofit tools:
By the end of the year, MIP will join our native accounting integrations and Microsoft Copilot joins Claude and ChatGPT.

More than 30 Instrumentl tools are available in Claude and ChatGPT today, and they work in both directions. Pull your matches, then save the strong fits to your tracker. Check a deadline, then create and assign the next round of tasks. Every change flows back to Instrumentl, so it stays your source of truth.
More than 430 organizations have already connected Instrumentl to their AI assistant.
A few workflows they’ve built:
You can get a complete “how to” guide for building these workflows, prompts included, in our free workbook.

A smarter operating system tracks every grant dollar, and every change along the way.
When your board, your finance team, or a funder asks whether spending is on track, you should have a clear answer and the record to back it up.
This spring, we released Instrumentl Spenddown: a real-time view of budget vs. actuals for every award, synced with your accounting system. Since then, hundreds of grant professionals have used it to cut reporting time and catch errors early.
This fall, three upgrades make Spenddown the home for a grant's full financial record.
Instrumentl Budgets. A grant budget gets drafted, proposed, approved, modified, and reallocated. Most teams end up with five versions in five inboxes. Now every version lives in Instrumentl, starting before you apply.
Upload a budget and Instrumentl pulls out the categories and line items. If something's off, tell it what to fix in plain language. Save a new version each time the budget changes. Expenses carry over even when categories change, and the version log shows which budget is current and how it got there.

Limited Visibility Staff Role. Program staff spend the money, and they're often the first to notice when something's coded wrong. But a grant's financial record includes things not everyone should see, like what colleagues are paid. With this role, an admin decides which expenses are sensitive. Program staff see how their grant is spending, and everything else stays private.
Flagged expenses. Fix a problem in the same place you found it. Flag a miscoded expense, leave a note, and tag finance to resolve it, without going back to email threads and spreadsheets.

A smarter operating system gives larger institutions visibility and control.
If you manage grants across chapters, campuses, departments, or clinics, three new features are live today on our Enterprise plans.
Account hierarchy. Your institution is the top-level account, and each unit gets its own account underneath. Units see what's theirs. A designated HQ account sees the pipeline and portfolio of every unit it oversees.
Advanced reporting. A roll-up view in your tracker shows every unit's pipeline and portfolio in one place. Filter to a single unit, or see the whole institution.
Approvals. Request approval before a grant moves into planning, with the amount and the reason. Approvers act in Instrumentl or right from their email, and every decision is logged. Two units won't chase the same grant, and nobody commits to one you aren't staffed to steward.

Every grant meeting starts with the same questions. What should we pursue next? Are we on track? What's changed since we last met? What needs attention now?
For most teams, answering them means chasing program managers, pulling reports from finance, exporting, reconciling, and rebuilding last month's spreadsheet.
The new tracker rebuilds Instrumentl around the recurring work grant teams do: deciding what to pursue, reporting on the portfolio, and managing deliverables. It starts with a rebuilt tracker, where you save views for different jobs, all built on the same grant data:
The new GrantOS platform opens to a limited beta today and comes to every account in spring 2027. Sign up to join the beta.

Accurate data, connected systems, a complete financial record, and the whole portfolio in one view. Strategic teams run on a system. GrantOS is built to be that system.
