The Seattle Association of Black Journalists (SABJ) established this scholarship in honor of Patricia Fisher, a Puget Sound native, journalist, educator and role model for her support of young people and her community. Scholarships of $5,000 help students of African descent who are from or attending college in Washington and who are pursuing college careers in communications, such as print, photo, broadcast journalism or multimedia and online journalism. Scholarships are awarded based on scholastic achievement, financial need, community service and a serious interest in communications. Recipient(s) will be matched with a mentor who is a SABJ member.

The Search Team Grant, established by the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, provides financial assistance to active handlers of live-find and human remains detection canines. This program helps cover out-of-pocket expenses for training and equipment, enabling handlers to remain deployment-ready. Over 17 years, it has supported specialized training and essential gear purchases, ensuring that canine teams can effectively assist communities in need during emergencies.

The Carver, We’ll Find a Way Scholarship Fund, established by the Carver Family, offers scholarships to local students passionate about helping others. The Junior League of Columbia created this non-renewable scholarship to assist students who attended one of the elementary schools located in Richland School District One in Columbia, SC. 

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society offers a Medical Student Mentorship Program that provides a four-week clinical experience for medical students who have completed at least one year of school. This program aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by individuals with MS and generate interest in careers focused on MS care. Students gain hands-on experience under the guidance of MS specialists, enhancing their understanding of the disease and its management.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society offers the Sylvia Lawry Physician Fellowships to support MDs in acquiring essential clinical trial training. This fellowship aims to enhance expertise in conducting complex trials for MS therapies, fostering skills in protocol design, patient recruitment, and data analysis.
