"This scholarship is presented by Doug and Ginny Larsen. We wanted to give back to the community byt offering these awards on behalf of our family and family members. Doug attended La Center schools as did his mom and dad, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousions. Ginny graduated from Evergreen High School and together we have lived in La Center 50 years. Our intent with these scholarships was to help those students who for various reasons need help with furthering their education".

The Larsens understand that each student has their own strengths, skills, and desired career pathway. They want to provide postsecondary educational and training opportunities for La Center High School graduates and graduating seniors. Students with a GPA below 2.9 are encouraged to apply.

Of the La Center High School graduates, at least one recipient must be a graduating senior from La Center High School.

AAUW International Fellowship- Doctoral Degree 

AAUW’s International Fellowships promotes education and equity for women by investing in international applicants who will be pursuing graduate studies in the U.S. in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) disciplines, with the intention of applying their expertise, professional skills, and leadership in service of their home countries and/or the communities in which they reside. For a resident of Baldwin County, AL. Graduate of any accredited high school including public schools, private schools, parochial schools and home schools. The student must be the son or daughter of a parent(s) who is an employed member of a Law Enforcement Agency that operates within Baldwin County or a student who plans to major in a Law Enforcement field, i.e., Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, etc. Students must have academic achievements necessary for entry into an accredited college or university. Students’ need, academic performance and community service will all be considered in the selection process.
