The Harry N. and Melva A. Derickson Scholarship, managed by The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, supports residents of Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry Counties pursuing degrees in medical, dental, nursing, physical therapy, or engineering fields. This endowment aims to promote academic achievement and community service, with a preference for gender balance in award distribution. Suter Family Scholarship Fund

Provides an annual award to graduates at both DeKalb and Sycamore high schools. The Charles & Helen Suter Memorial Scholarship award will honor the late Charles and Helen Suter, their love for education and learning, and the family’s ongoing service to the community.

As with many funds at the Community Foundation, the Suter Family Scholarship Fund honors the legacy of a loved one. Recipients of the award will know it as the Charles & Helen Suter Memorial Scholarship award. Eligibility criteria for the award speaks to the values and ideals held by the family, holding academic achievement, volunteerism and service club involvement as preferred.

The ASH Quality Improvement Training Institute (QITI) is a 16-month hybrid training program designed for North American hematology care teams. The ASH Research Training Award for Fellows (RTAF) supports junior researchers in hematology and hematology-related fields. It offers $70,000 for one year, ensuring dedicated research time. Eligible MD and MD-PhD fellows can apply for a second year, aiding their competitiveness for further awards. The program emphasizes research in hematologic conditions and requires documented mentorship support. Awardees also receive $1,000 for ASH annual meeting attendance, fostering networking and professional development.

The Cole Eriksson Parker Eagle Scout Scholarship Fund

The Cole Eriksson Parker Eagle Scout Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarships to high school graduates or graduating seniors who are Buckeye Council, Scouting of America, Canton, OH, Eagle Scouts.

Mary C. Dillon Scholarship

Established by the Dillon Family, this scholarship is awarded to a student whose primary residence is in Torrington and who pursues, or intends to pursue, a degree in nursing at an accredited university or college. Preference is given to applicants with a record of volunteering with the Red Cross or other health-related organizations. This scholarship is not financially need-based. (No FAFSA required)

It aims to inspire interest in gastroenterology research by recognizing outstanding abstracts, with the top scorer honored as the Student Abstract of the Year and awarded an additional $1,000. Applicants must be sponsored by an AGA member and may only submit one abstract.

The Plant Protection Act Section 7721 PPDMDPP provides funding to safeguard U.S. specialty crops and natural resources from invasive plant pests and diseases. With up to $90 million available in FY 2027, projects will focus on early detection and mitigation strategies across six goal areas, including pest identification and public outreach. This initiative aims to enhance agricultural resilience and support proactive measures against harmful pests, ensuring the protection of vital agricultural systems.

The ACUMEN Scholarship, provided by the East Bay Community Foundation, aims to support financially challenged students from Youth Spirit Artworks, Oakland Tech High School, and McClymonds High School. Each year, up to three scholarships are awarded, with amounts of $5,000 for 2-year colleges and $8,000 for 4-year colleges. This initiative is designed to assist students with educational costs, encouraging their commitment to higher education.

The Dr. Kenneth F. Swaiman Medical Student Scholarship, offered by the Child Neurology Foundation, honors Dr. Swaiman's legacy in child neurology. This $6,000 scholarship supports three U.S. or Canadian medical students annually, who are interested in child neurology research. Recipients will receive travel funding to attend the Child Neurology Society meeting. Eligible students must be in their second or third year and conduct research under a child neurologist's guidance.

The UPMC Microvascular Reconstructive Fellowship offers a one-year clinical program designed for qualified surgeons, focusing on mentorship in microsurgical techniques and comprehensive patient care. Participants will gain hands-on experience in reconstructive surgeries, including extremity trauma and facial reanimation, while also engaging in multidisciplinary cancer treatment. The fellowship emphasizes both clinical and didactic learning, with opportunities for research in renowned laboratories, ensuring fellows acquire a deep understanding of the field.

The Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) Program aims to equip residents with the skills to deliver exceptional healthcare, especially in rural and underserved areas. By funding the training of residents in HRSA-supported primary care residency programs, it fosters a diverse healthcare workforce capable of meeting the needs of various populations. This initiative not only enhances the quality of care but also strengthens community health systems.
