The Agency of Education implements state and federal laws, policies, and regulations to ensure all Vermont learners have equitable access to high-quality learning opportunities. The Agency accomplishes this mission through the provision of its leadership, support, and oversight of Vermont’s public education system.

Local Foods Incentive Grant — Subsequent Year Grant

After the Baseline Year, SFAs may apply annually for Subsequent Year grants. SFAs are required to achieve a locally produced foods percentage of at least 15% in order to receive a grant award. The locally produced foods percentage is calculated by taking the total cost of foods qualifying as local and dividing that by your total food costs. If a SFA applies for a Subsequent Year grant one year, or chooses to skip a year, the SFA is still eligible to apply for a Subsequent Year grant in following years. After the SFA receives a Baseline Year grant, the SFA may choose to apply for a Subsequent Year grant in any following year.  

• There are three grant award tiers which are based for Subsequent Year grants:
  • 15% locally produced foods = $0.15 per lunch grant award
  • 20% locally produced foods = $0.20 per lunch grant award
  • 25% locally produced foods = $0.25 per lunch grant award 

The Wellness Across the Lifespan Grant supports the health of communities by providing access to nutritious food and essential nutrition education. Grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 are awarded to 501(c)(3) nonprofits in areas where Sprouts Farmers Market operates. This funding emphasizes health and nutrition education, as well as programs that promote healthy lifestyles and nutrition security, ultimately benefiting adults and vulnerable populations.

The Growing Healthy Kids Grant, funded by The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation, aims to support community-based programs that enhance children's nutrition access and health education. With grant amounts ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, this initiative focuses on hands-on programs that promote healthy habits among children and their families. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits located in areas where Sprouts Farmers Market operates, helping to ensure that the funds directly benefit local communities.

Participants enhance their leadership skills, gain in-depth knowledge of the U.S. food system, and advocate for healthy school food policies. The fellowship includes live virtual sessions, coursework, and hands-on projects, culminating in a capstone project. With a focus on collaboration and networking, selected fellows will drive impactful change in their school districts.

The Wythe-Bland Foundation Grant supports health, education, and well-being projects that benefit the citizens of Wythe and Bland counties. Established in 2005 from the lease of Wythe County Community Hospital, this non-profit foundation aims to provide essential services and maintain financial stability by managing its resources prudently. There are currently no limits on grant sizes, allowing flexibility to meet the needs of prioritized projects. The foundation emphasizes sustainable investment for long-term community benefit.

The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Subgrant Program aims to enhance the health of elementary school students by providing free fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the school day. Organizations are encouraged to focus on critical operating activities during the application process.

Nonprofits, community groups, and individuals serving youth in Perry County, Missouri can seek up to US $1,500 from the Perry County Youth Tax Board to strengthen programs that improve health, nutrition, and overall well-being for residents under 18. With a mission to enhance youth quality of life, this small grant can support local nutrition and healthy eating initiatives.

Nonprofits, public agencies, and other groups serving youth-focused health, nutrition, and wellness programs in Perry County, Missouri can seek large-grant support for projects improving life for residents under 18.
