Virginia Welch Scholarship

Each year the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center Auxiliary awards the Virginia Welch Scholarship to students planning to pursue a career in a medically-related field. The scholarship is named in honor of Virginia Welch, a head nurse who became Good Samaritan’s administrator in 1951 and served until 1967. To date, more than $320,000 has been awarded to students pursuing a career in health care.

High school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in, or accepted to, a program to pursue a career in a medically-related field in a hospital setting are eligible to apply.

North Lincoln Hospital Foundation Medical Training Scholarship

The North Lincoln Hospital Foundation is committed to supporting the growth and development of healthcare professionals at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital. Mary Decker Scholarship

The North Lincoln Hospital Foundation is honored to offer scholarships to aspiring health care professionals who live in Lincoln County. The Mary Decker Scholarship Fund was created in 2006 with the support of many friends and colleagues in the health care community and the North Lincoln Health District Board. The intent is to honor and recognize Mary’s many years of service to her community and the state by providing scholarships to further career development in health care. The fund provides scholarships for qualified applicants to pursue a degree in a medical or paramedical field at an accredited school of their choice.

Samaritan Albany General Hospital Volunteer Services Scholarship

The Samaritan Albany General Hospital Volunteer Services is proud to offer scholarships each year for tuition, books and required program supplies to students pursuing higher education in a human medical field. Samaritan Albany General Hospital Gift Shop sales and miscellaneous special event proceeds are used to fund the scholarships.

Linn County students currently attending college and majoring in a medical field are invited to apply for the Samaritan Albany General Hospital Volunteer Services Scholarship.

Frank Girod, MD, Medical Scholarship

The Frank Girod, MD, Medical Scholarship was established by the Lebanon Community Hospital Development Council and was funded by numerous contributions made by the late Girod’s friends and family.

The Girod Medical Scholarship is awarded to medical students in honor of the lifetime contribution to health care made by Girod of Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital and to assist new students of medicine to make similar contributions. The scholarship is coordinated by the Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation and is designed to help residents of east Linn County who are attending medical school.

The Essential Visionaries Scholarship Fund offers renewable scholarships to undergraduate students pursuing degrees or certificates in education, counseling, psychology, or nursing through college or vocational school programs. The Fund for Teachers Fellowship empowers educators to design personalized learning experiences that enhance their professional skills and student engagement. With over 20 years of experience, this initiative has supported more than 10,000 teachers, enabling them to transform their classrooms through unique fellowship opportunities. Eligible applicants include full-time teachers in the U.S. who have at least three years of teaching experience and plan to return to the classroom after their fellowship. This fellowship fosters innovative teaching practices and collaborative growth.

The Washington Red Raspberry Commission offers research grants to support the advancement of red raspberry cultivation. These grants focus on innovative farming practices, pest management, and cultivar development, aimed at enhancing grower productivity and sustainability. Proposals are evaluated based on their potential impact on the industry, with an emphasis on practical applications. The commission invites researchers from various backgrounds to contribute, ensuring a diverse range of solutions for the challenges faced by raspberry growers.

The Ric Trimillos Annual Meeting Travel Award, offered by the Society for Ethnomusicology, aims to support students from historically marginalized groups by providing $750 for travel to the Annual Meeting. To qualify, applicants must be SEM members and cannot combine this award with others. Preference is given to graduate students and those presenting at the meeting. The Society for Ethnomusicology offers the Annual Meeting Travel Fund - Student Awards to support students presenting at its annual meeting. This program provides five awards of $800 each, selected based on the quality of presentation abstracts. Applicants must be enrolled full-time, have an accepted abstract, and hold current SEM membership. The initiative aims to encourage diverse representation among awardees, fostering a rich exchange of ideas in ethnomusicology.

The Annual Meeting Travel Fund - North American Awards provides four annual awards of $800 each to support travel for SEM Annual Meeting presenters residing in North America. Eligible applicants must not be students, must have a presentation abstract accepted for the meeting, and should not have access to other funding. This initiative promotes diverse representation and aids those working part-time or in temporary employment seeking full-time opportunities.

The NACRJ Mini-Grants provide funding of up to $500 for projects promoting community and restorative justice. Launched in 2016, the initiative has allocated over $60,000 to support NACRJ members nationwide. This unique opportunity fosters impactful projects and enhances visibility within the restorative justice community. Applications are accepted biannually, with a focus on empowering organizations and individuals committed to restorative practices. Members are encouraged to apply for this essential funding to further their meaningful endeavors.

The NACRJ Impact Grant, initiated in 2016, has provided over $60,000 to NACRJ members to support community and restorative justice projects. This grant is available annually, offering up to $3,000 to members for innovative initiatives that foster community impact. By applying, members can gain funding, visibility, and networking opportunities within the NACRJ and the broader restorative justice community, helping to empower meaningful projects that align with restorative justice principles.

The Park Pride Small Change Grant Program offers funding for community-led improvements in parks, supporting volunteer efforts with awards up to $2,500. The grants aim to enhance engagement among Friends of the Park groups, facilitating innovative projects such as beautification plantings, wayfinding signage, and wildlife habitats. Eligible applicants include registered Friends groups with nonprofit status in Atlanta and surrounding areas, allowing for continuous application until funds are exhausted each fiscal year.

The Society for Ethnomusicology offers the Annual Meeting Travel Fund - International Awards to support five presenters from countries outside the U.S. and Canada. Each awardee receives $1,000 to facilitate their participation in the Annual Meeting. Eligible individuals must have an accepted presentation abstract, register for the meeting, and hold a current SEM membership. This initiative aims to enhance international engagement in the conference and promote diverse perspectives in music research.

The Gainbridge Assists Powered by Parity Grant, in partnership with Parity and the Women’s Sports Foundation, supports girls and women in sports and education. In 2024, $222,000 will be awarded through 32 grants, including a $50,000 grant honoring Billie Jean King. This initiative aims to empower over 5,000 participants, fostering community transformation through sports and educational opportunities.
