Jack's Family Fund Grant

The Jack's Family Fund is a non-profit charitable organization established to provide emergency financial assistance to members of the communities that Jack’s Family Restaurants (JFR) serve. Fund grants are made to assist those who have temporarily found themselves in need, but under normal circumstances are self-sustaining.

Our grants assist with:

• Immediate, short- term needs of individuals who may be victims of disasters or other emergency hardship situations including floods, fires, riots, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and similar large-scale events, or
• Emergency hardship caused by illness, death, accident, violent crime or other types of personal injury.
• Community 501(c)(3) organizations working to respond to these types of needs on a broad scale.

Types of expenses grants may be awarded for include (but are not limited to):

• funeral expenses
• past due utilities (electric, water, natural gas)
• past due rent/mortgage
• emergency housing

Grants from the Fund are not intended to replace personal or homeowners insurance, federal disaster relief or other types of aid, but rather to assist on an immediate and short-term basis when other sources of assistance are not available.

The Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP), authorized by the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022, provides formula funds to support gun violence reduction programs and initiatives. For this project, grant funds can be used by eligible entities to expand the capacity of existing accountability courts to assist participants who may be most likely to become involved with violent crime and support the implementation of peer support programming, which is a vital part of the continuum of care for efforts to combat the effects of violence. Scholars selected to participate in the year-long program, are matched with a research project submitted by prospective graduate/postdoc mentors. Their research begins in the spring semester (January 2026) while taking regular coursework. During this time, they acquire the skills and training necessary to develop their research projects and chart their course for the upcoming year. In the summer semester, scholars conduct their research full-time (40 hours/week) immersing and integrating into the research group, and attending group meetings and other lab activities. When classes resume in the final fall semester, scholars continue their research to develop results to present at an end-of-year poster session and celebration in October/November.
