Indiana Department of Health Activity-Based Therapy Program

The overall objective of this program is to foster and encourage activity-based therapy programs for the treatment of spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries, including acute management, medical complications, rehabilitative techniques, and neuronal recovery.

The initiative for funding activity based therapy programs consists of two funding mechanisms: RFA for programs for traumatic spinal cord injury and RFA for programs for traumatic brain injury. 

Programs must be conducted in compliance with all state and federal laws.

RFA for Programs for Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury 

An RFA for programs providing rehabilitative clinical care and employing “activity based” approaches for traumatic spinal cord injury persons.

The Community Foundation of Wabash County offers a wide variety of post-secondary education scholarships to traditional, non-traditional, and graduate students. With nearly 70 different scholarship endowments created through the generosity of our donors, many students are eligible to apply.    

Roy B. Craver Scholarship Endowment

Roy B. Craver was a veteran of World War I. He established a scholarship for residents of Wabash County and graduates of a Wabash County high school who like himself are willing to serve in the armed forces even if they do not intend to enlist.

The PLTW Launch Program Expansion in Indiana offers a $5,000 grant for the 2026-2027 academic year to enhance existing PLTW programs or introduce new ones. Eligible activities include expanding module offerings, reaching more students, and teacher training. All Indiana schools can apply, but funds must be used specifically for program expansion, excluding salaries and certain equipment costs. This initiative supports STEM education by improving access to quality learning resources.

The PLTW Launch program in Indiana offers grants of $20,000 to support the implementation of new PLTW programs in schools for the 2026-2027 academic year. Grantees must provide at least one PLTW Launch module in the first year and an additional module in the following year. Eligible applicants include public, private, and charter schools in Indiana. Funding can cover participation fees, necessary equipment, and training costs, while excluding salaries and other specified expenses.

The PLTW Gateway Program Expansion in Indiana aims to enhance STEM education by providing grants for schools to implement or expand existing PLTW programs during the 2026-2027 academic year. Grants of $15,000 are available to support activities such as adding new units, increasing class periods, and training teachers. All Indiana schools are eligible, fostering inclusive access to innovative learning opportunities for students across various educational settings.

Dorothy J. and William A. Rice Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Established by Gary A. Rice and Randall W. Rice to memorialize their parents, Dorothy and William, who were devoted members of Christ United Methodist Church in Wabash, Indiana. The endowment provides funds to Christ United Methodist Church to be used to award tuition only scholarship grants to members of the church.

The PLTW Gateway program in Indiana aims to enhance STEM education by allowing schools to implement new PLTW programs or expand existing ones for the 2026-2027 academic year. Eligible schools can receive up to $30,000 over two years, with the requirement to offer at least two different PLTW Gateway units. This initiative supports public, private, and charter schools, fostering innovative learning environments in Indiana.

The Costume Society of America (CSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded on March 23, 1973, and incorporated in the state of New York on September 12, 1973. CSA serves it members, and promotes its goals with national symposia and publications including the journal Dress and its monthly electronic newsletter CSA e-News.

The organization began forming regional groups in 1978. There are six regional groups in the United States and Canada, and one international group. Individual regions hold annual meetings, sponsor programs and publish newsletters.

The Costume Society of America fosters an understanding of appearance and dress practices of people across the globe through research, education, preservation, and design. Our network of members studies the past, examines the present, and anticipates the future of clothing and fashion.

Midwest Region Student Travel Award

Each year, CSA travel funding in an amount up to $750 is available for a Midwest Region Student Member to present at the National Symposium of The Costume Society of America. Awards may be distributed among multiple student members.

Cancer Center Community-Academic Collaborative Program Award

IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, Office of Community Outreach and Engagement is inviting collaborative proposals for implementing evidence-based cancer related programs within the community. Proposals should address the cancer burden in Indiana. The program should include an evaluation component and priority will be given to projects targeting one of the major cancer burdens in Indiana, including lung, breast, colon, pancreas, prostate and cervical. We are particularly interested in initiatives that promote healthier behaviors linking to reducing cancer incidence and morbidity. Of particular interest are community-led programs that expand our reach and deepen our understanding of populations across Indiana. The project must be co-led by an Cancer Center faculty member and a community advocate or partner.

The duration of this funding is one year, and the budget should not exceed $15,000.

Cancer Center “Near-Miss” NIH R01 Initiative

The IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center is providing an opportunity to fund cancer focused PI-directed applications to the National Institutes of Health that have been reviewed once and missed the NIH pay line and have a high potential for obtaining external funding. The goal is to increase the cancer focused NIH funding base. Non-NCI targeted applications should have significant cancer relevance.

Investigators wishing to apply to this funding mechanism must first submit their project to the IU External Resubmission Grant opportunity for funding consideration. If the project is not funded at the University level, an investigator can submit the project to the Cancer Center’s Near-Miss initiative for funding consideration.

The Jay Lampton Memorial Scholarship, managed by the Community Foundation Alliance, supports graduating seniors from various Indiana high schools pursuing post-secondary education in auto mechanics. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Selection criteria include academic performance, a letter of recommendation, and a required essay. This scholarship honors Jay Lampton's legacy through education, empowering students to advance their careers in technology.

The Decatur County Community Foundation Scholarship offers financial assistance to students attending any public or private college in Indiana. Funded by the Decatur County Community Foundation, this scholarship awards four scholarships of up to $5,000 each to finalists who do not receive the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden of education and inspire community generosity.

The Carol Ann and Ralph V Haile Jr Foundation Grant aims to enhance the quality of life for residents in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Established by Carol and Ralph Haile, the foundation focuses on funding initiatives in arts and culture, civic engagement, education, and human services. It supports organizations that are tax-exempt and aligns with their mission across ten counties. By fostering collaboration, the foundation seeks to create a vibrant community and drive meaningful change.

The Saint-Gobain Corporation Foundation Direct Grants program provides support to non-profit organizations in focus areas including STEM education, sustainable construction, and workforce development. The foundation aims to foster community development and environmental stewardship. Eligible applicants include IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) organizations and accredited educational institutions in the U.S. The Foundation prioritizes partnerships that allow employee involvement and volunteer support, aiming to build meaningful relationships with grantees.

The Froderman Foundation Grant, established in 1961 by Mr. and Mrs. G. Harvey Froderman, supports qualified applicants focusing on religious, educational, medical, and charitable initiatives. The foundation promotes equity by considering applications without regard to race, creed, or color. Applicants must provide proof of 501(C)3 status and detailed plans for fund utilization, as general operating budgets are not typically funded. This grant aims to enhance impactful community projects.

Clinical & Translational Science (CTS) Pilot Grant Program

The objective of the new Indiana CTSI Clinical & Translational Science (CTS) pilot grant mechanism is to initiate or continue translational science projects that help identify translational methods and processes relevant across a range of diseases, treatments, and interventions. The key objective of the projects should be to develop methodological innovations and/or produce crosscutting solutions for common and persistent challenges to reduce, remove, or bypass significant bottlenecks across the continuum of translation.

Applications to this program are limited to a total of $40,000 and are 12 months (1 year) in duration. There will be no ability to apply for a no cost extension with this new grant.

The PreservINg Main Street Grant, initiated by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, aims to enhance local economies through the preservation of historic properties in Indiana. This program supports eligible communities with funding up to $2 million for downtown revitalization projects, alongside opportunities for capacity building in partnership with Indiana Humanities and Indiana Landmarks. It offers a sustainable approach to historic preservation while fostering community engagement and economic development.

The STEM Education Major Teaching Fellowship provides funding for students majoring in STEM Education at INSGC affiliate institutions. This financial support enables students to engage in meaningful outreach experiences, covering expenses for student teaching or hands-on STEM activities. Eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens enrolled in relevant programs with a minimum GPA of 2.5. The Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Assistance Fund offers crucial financial support and counseling for individuals in the theatrical exhibition and distribution sectors facing health-related challenges. This fund assists with medical expenses, housing emergencies, and essential services like vocational rehabilitation and equipment aid. Eligible applicants must have a minimum of three years in exhibition or five years in distribution. The fund aims to provide a safety net for those impacted by illness, injury, or significant life changes.

The National Cooperative Drug/Device Discovery/Development Groups (NCDDG) program invites applications to foster innovative research in treating mental disorders and substance use issues. This initiative promotes collaboration between academia and industry, supporting diverse, multidisciplinary projects aimed at developing rational therapies and neurostimulation techniques. Applicants are encouraged to submit Letters of Intent 30 days before the proposal deadline to enhance project alignment with funding goals.

The NCDDG program supports innovative research aiming to discover and develop new treatments for mental disorders, including substance use and alcohol use disorders. This initiative encourages collaborations between academic and industry partners to advance neurostimulation techniques and drug/device development. Applicants are invited to submit proposals that focus on specific projects utilizing the U01 mechanism, with a clear emphasis on rationally designed candidate agents and cutting-edge technologies. Letters of Intent are encouraged 30 days prior to the submission deadline.

The Pipeline Grants Competition by the Russell Sage Foundation aims to bolster early-career scholars and enhance diversity in the social sciences. It supports innovative research focusing on economic mobility and systemic inequalities in the U.S. Eligible applicants can receive up to $35,000 individually or $50,000 in teams. The foundation emphasizes methodological diversity and interdisciplinary collaboration, encouraging novel data usage. Projects should align with RSF's mission to improve social conditions, prioritizing underrepresented scholars from under-resourced institutions.

The Dr. Ralph and Marian Falk Medical Research Trust – Falk Catalyst Awards support high-risk, high-reward biomedical research with up to $350,000 in funding over one to two years. These awards aim to address critical scientific challenges and enable the translation of innovative research into clinical practices. Projects focus on identifying biological markers, therapeutic targets, and developing interventions to disrupt disease processes, ultimately improving treatment outcomes for patients.

The PLTW Engineering Program Expansion in Indiana aims to enhance educational opportunities through the Step Up Indiana STEM Grant. Schools can utilize a total award of $15,000 to implement new PLTW programs or expand existing ones for the 2026-2027 academic year. Eligible uses include additional courses, class periods, and teacher training, while ensuring that funds are allocated effectively to support STEM education initiatives.

Community Foundation of Randolph County

Our mission is to bring people and resources together to strengthen the quality of life, both now and in the future, for the residents of Randolph County.

The Community Foundation’s work falls into three major categories: grant-making, donor service, and community convening. Our most visible activities are the grants and scholarships we award each year. Most of these awards come from income earned from permanently endowed funds. Scholarships and other grants come from funds that donors have established for specific purposes.

Diana Fahl Sciences Scholarship

In the early 1990’s Diana Fahl began working at Indiana University East, she saw there was a financial need for single mothers. Diana came up with the idea to create a fundraiser cookbook, with faculty, staff and students submitting recipes. Diana served as the editor, and it was a hit; they reached the level for two endowed scholarships. Ten years later Diana saw that the student body had changed to a more traditional student body with a large percentage of freshman students not advancing to sophomore level. Diana proposed a new scholarship as a two-fold scholarship, the high school graduate would receive the first component of the scholarship their freshman year of college, then, as the student proceeds to their sophomore year they would get an increased additional payment from the scholarship. Diana served as editor of this cookbook and two more endowed scholarships were created.

After decades of working with the community and creating needed scholarships, Diana is overwhelmed with pride to have a science scholarship in her name.

This scholarship may be awarded to students who are a Randolph County resident, graduate from a Randolph County school, and plans to pursue a degree in the Sciences (not including nursing) at Indiana University East.
