Enhanced Mobility of Seniors & Individuals with Disabilities

The Federal Section 5310 grant program is intended to enhance mobility for seniors and persons with disabilities by providing funds for programs to serve the special needs of transit-dependent populations beyond traditional public transportation services.

Applications are accepted annually, with a strong emphasis on corporate citizenship and community involvement. Heritage Fund of Bartholomew County

As the community foundation of Bartholomew County, Heritage Fund connects donors with causes they care about and serves as a catalyst for positive change in our community. David and Margaret Bottorff Math and Science Initiative for Elementary Teachers

The David and Margaret Bottorff Math and Science Initiative for Elementary Teachers was established to provide grants to elementary teachers for math and science related programming. Dave and Margaret have been part of the Columbus community since 1968, Dave as a member of the Cummins management organization and Margaret with BCSC teaching in the elementary area. As we look into the future of our community, we have a vision to help support young students with their aspirations as they address their future challenges through the venues of math and science. We hope these funds will be used in a variety of ways to stimulate, excite and inspire elementary students in these areas.

The Voelz, Reed, & Mount Foundation Grant Program, administered by Heritage Fund of Bartholomew County, invites nonprofit organizations in Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings, and Decatur counties to apply for funding. About the Indiana Department of Homeland Security

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) leads Indiana's emergency planning and operations, first responder training and fire and building safety. The State Fire Marshal and State Building Commissioner oversee fire and building safety efforts, including the enforcement of building codes and a fire investigations unit. The agency certifies and trains thousands of first responders and hosts state-level exercises each year. IDHS also supports county emergency management agencies and runs the State Emergency Operations Center (EOC), which leads response and coordination efforts for large-scale incidents.

Nonprofit Security Grant Program

Executive Summary

The NSGP improves and increases the physical/cybersecurity and facility/target hardening of nonprofit organizations’ facilities at risk of a terrorist of other extremist attack, ultimately safeguarding the lives and property of the American people.

There are two funding sources appropriated for nonprofit organizations: 1) NSGP - Urban Area (NSGP-UA), and 2) NSGP - State (NSGP-S)

NSGP - State (NSGP-S)

NSGP-S funds nonprofit organizations located outside of a FY 2025 Designated highrisk urban area. Under NSGP-S, each state will receive an allocation for nonprofit organizations in the state located outside of FY 2025 Designated high-risk urban areas.

NSGP-S: Nonprofit organization must be located outside of Marion and Hamilton counties.

The Brinker International Charitable Giving Program focuses on giving back to communities through support for kids, hunger, and education. Organizations eligible for funding must be 501c(3) non-profits and submit requests at least six weeks prior to events. The program does not support individuals, political or religious organizations, or explicit discrimination policies. Funding is provided through monetary donations or in-kind contributions like dining certificates.

Indiana Alcohol Research Center Pilot Project Program

The NIAAA-supported Indiana Alcohol Research Center (IARC) is soliciting proposals for pilot projects from investigators who want to develop research on alcohol use disorders. Applications pertinent to basic mechanisms of alcohol misuse, neurophysiological and behavioral phenotypes of drinking, and genetic underpinnings of alcohol preference are welcome. The purpose of an IARC pilot grant is to allow an investigator to obtain preliminary data leading to extramural funding. Previous experience in research on alcohol use and/or alcohol use disorder is not required.

Pilot projects are limited to $50,000 (direct costs) per year for two years.

The HFBC: AEI Youth Sports Fund, in partnership with the Heritage Fund of Bartholomew County, aims to provide financial support for local youth to engage in athletic and fitness programs. Targeting youth aged 18 and under from Bartholomew and surrounding counties, this fund addresses financial barriers to participation in sports. Grants range from $50 to $5,000, enabling access to lessons, clinics, travel, and necessary equipment, fostering inclusive opportunities for all youth in the community.

The HFBC Community Fund Grant supports local organizations in Bartholomew County, distributing over $700,000 annually to promote positive change and development. By focusing on strategic areas such as Youth Development, Downtown Vitality, and Arts & Culture, the Heritage Fund aims to address community needs effectively. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate how their proposals align with these priorities. A letter of intent is required one week before the application deadline to express interest.

The Sparklight/Cable One Charitable Giving Fund supports local nonprofits and organizations focused on education, food insecurity, and community development. They prioritize impactful partnerships that strengthen communities. The fund welcomes various funding requests, including special projects and capital campaigns, while adhering to specific eligibility requirements such as tax-exempt status. However, they do not fund basic operating expenses, loans, or religious organizations for general support, ensuring that their contributions foster meaningful community growth.

The Jean Griswold Foundation (JGF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Caregivers through educational opportunities and scholarships. 

Our Mission

The mission of the Jean Griswold Foundation is to support Caregivers by providing educational scholarships* to enable them to further their training, enhance their careers, and better assist the clients they serve.

By offering educational scholarships*, our Foundation will not only make a positive impact on the Caregivers themselves, but also the clients they assist and the home healthcare agencies where they are employed, as well as help advance the overarching home-care industry.

Scholarships will be paid directly to the federally accredited educational institutions of the winning Scholars’ choosing.

The Jean Griswold Foundation Scholarship Program awards scholarships to deserving Caregivers who wish to further their education in a care-related field. Applicants do not have to be associated with Griswold in any way, and the funds will be paid directly to the institution where the caregiver will be receiving education.

Scholarship Program

The Community Foundation of Northern Nevada’s Scholarship Program is intended to help students cover the ever-increasing cost of tuition. Some of our scholarships are based on financial need, but others represent an award for achievement. These scholarships typically go to students who have excelled in an academic area or have shown they can balance academics, volunteer work, and extracurricular activities. There are also scholarships designated for students who have overcome adversity, students pursuing degrees in high-need areas, and adult learners outside the traditional college age group. In honor of our beloved wife and mother, who was lovingly known as Jean Bear to her children, we have started the Jean Bear Mullins Memorial Scholarship to help students from Washoe County who have been accepted to or are currently enrolled in a Physician Assistant program or Medical School program at an accredited college or university nationwide. This fund provides rapid, flexible support to help stabilize operations and ensure continuity of care for uninsured and underserved patients.
