Donors work with us to facilitate progress in Montgomery County. With their generous support, we are able to invest their gifts, manage them for growth, and use a portion of the earnings for grants for nonprofits and scholarships for students that are truly making a difference.

Durham Foundation Fund in Honor of Shirley O'Neall

The Durham Foundation was established in 1944 for the purpose of maintaining Durham Home as a residence for independent women. In 1937, Sarah Durham established a trust to provide a comfortable home environment for women. The Durham Foundation operates as a 501c3 organization and oversees the home located at 215 West Main Street, Crawfordsville. 

The Durham Foundation Fund was created by the Durham Foundation board of directors to honor Shirley O’Neall’s service to the organization for over 50 years. It is their wish to support local women pursuing education to better themselves and their contributions to the community.

Communities Foundation of Oklahoma

The Communities Foundation of Oklahoma stems from the vision of Tom McCasland Jr., and Gene Rainbolt. Two decades ago, these gentlemen formed a shared vision to create a single philanthropic organization to serve the charitable needs to rural communities across the great state of Oklahoma. Today, CFO has grown to assist hundreds of efforts in more than 45 counties.

At the Communities Foundation of Oklahoma, we believe in the power of connecting individuals, nonprofits, businesses, and communities. Because when passionate people are paired with purposes they care about most, the communities in Oklahoma will prosper. 2027 Cherokee Nation Nursing Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to Cherokee Nation students pursuing college degrees in nursing no matter the residence of the student. You must currently be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program (no prerequisites). Payback period required upon program completion, in the Cherokee Nation Reservation. This application is for members of the Cherokee Nation ONLY.

Judith A. Resnik Memorial Fund and Judith A. Resnik Scholarship Fund of the Women's Network

Established in memory of Judith A. Resnik to award scholarships to seniors at Akron Public Schools who plan to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) or allied fields.

The SMART Scholarship Program, managed by Scholarship America, provides substantial support to STEM students, offering full tuition, stipends between $30,000 and $46,000, and summer internships at DoD facilities. This initiative aims to eliminate financial barriers for high school seniors and current college students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. With applications opening annually on August 1, the program fosters a strong community of scholars dedicated to innovation and research in STEM fields.

The HEEF: Hispanic Education Endowment Fund Scholarship provides academic financial support to US Citizens, Permanent Residents, and Dream Act/AB 540 students residing in Orange County, California. With awards starting at $2,500, this fund assists high school and community college transfers who demonstrate financial need and plan to enroll in a four-year college or university in Fall 2025. Additional donor-specific sub-funds offer varying amounts, enhancing accessibility to higher education.

William L. & Mary Ann Brown STEM Endowment Scholarship Program

The William L. & Mary Ann Brown STEM Endowed Scholarship Program was established by William L. and Mary Ann Brown to provide need-based scholarship support to seniors graduating from a high school in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, enrolled at a UNCF member institution, four-year HBCUs, and four-year institutions.

Successful applicants must be graduating high school seniors entering their first year of college, pursuing a STEM degree, including, but not limited to, fields in physical sciences, mathematics, the biological sciences, the chemical sciences, computer sciences, and engineering. Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll as a full-time student.

The TPC Group Mark of Excellence Scholarship Program, administered by Scholarship America Inc, supports the children of full-time employees pursuing higher education. This initiative aims to eliminate financial barriers and promote educational access for students aged 24 and under. The program encourages academic achievement and assists those planning to enroll in accredited colleges or vocational schools, ensuring that eligible applicants receive the necessary support to realize their educational aspirations.

Joseph L. Ruby Student Scholarship Fund

Established in honor of former Direction Home Akron Canton President and CEO Joseph Ruby to award scholarships to students enrolled in gerontology, social work, nursing or a related health care program.

MetroWest Health Foundation

The MetroWest Health Foundation is an independent health philanthropy whose mission is to improve the health status of the community, its individuals, and families through informed and innovative leadership.

The foundation meets the health needs of our region's residents by supporting community-based and community driven programs. We encourage and foster leadership on critical health issues. We are a grantmaker, convener and facilitator, working to provide resources, information, ideas and advocacy for community change. Since its inception in 1999, the foundation has provided more than $50 million in financial support that helps residents and their families lead healthier lives.

MetroWest Health Foundation: Nursing Scholarship

Scholarships are provided to students who are residents of one of the 25 towns in our MetroWest service area. Students must be accepted into an eligible nursing program at an accredited academic institution.

Tuition scholarships are awarded for a maximum of up to $4,000 per academic year. Students can receive a maximum of 4 scholarships. Applicants are eligible to reapply on an annual basis.

The Dave and Lori Hermes Memorial Scholarship, established in 2008 in memory of a respected Erie County farmer, supports graduating seniors from Erie County, Ohio, who exhibit financial need and have an agricultural background. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and achieve a 25 ACT score. The scholarship prioritizes academic performance while encouraging community service, athletics, and work commitments, fostering a holistic approach to student development.

The Robert and Jenilie Palla Education Fund offers scholarships to graduating WCPS seniors who have participated in Cross Country and/or Track & Field Teams. This initiative, supported by the Community Foundation of Washington County, Maryland, aims to honor local students and encourage their academic pursuits. With a commitment to enhancing the community's quality of life, the fund exemplifies the importance of education and athletics in shaping future leaders.

The Gerald D. Peet Scholarship honors the legacy of Gerald D. Peet by providing financial assistance to eligible American Indian and Alaska Native graduate or professional students pursuing degrees in Medicine at accredited institutions. This need-based award, administered by Native Forward, offers varying amounts from $100 to $30,000 per academic year, based on financial aid information from the institution's Financial Aid Office.

The African-American Community Foundation - Major John F. Harris, Jr., Memorial Scholarship aims to support JROTC graduates from Dayton Public Schools in pursuing higher education. Established by The Dayton Foundation, it honors Major John Harris, Jr., a dedicated instructor who inspired students to achieve independence. Eligible applicants must demonstrate leadership and be accepted into accredited educational institutions. The Saint James School Scholarship Fund provides essential financial assistance to deserving students in the greater Washington County area. Established by local families and organizations, this fund aims to honor individuals and promote education. With over 100 scholarships available through the Community Foundation of Washington County, MD, it supports both high school graduates and non-traditional students pursuing continuing education. This initiative strengthens the community and fosters educational opportunities for all.

The Carver, We’ll Find a Way Scholarship Fund, established by the Carver Family, offers scholarships to local students passionate about helping others. This fund is part of the Community Foundation of Washington County, Maryland, which manages over 100 scholarships aimed at supporting both high school graduates and non-traditional students pursuing further education. The foundation seeks to enhance the quality of life in Washington County through educational support and community engagement.

The PEO, Chapter BE Scholarship, offered by the Erie County Community Foundation, supports female graduates of Erie County high schools pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees. Since 1995, the foundation has focused on enhancing community needs and leadership, aiming for a lasting impact in Erie County, Ohio. The Mystery Donor Vocational Scholarship Fund, managed by the Decatur County Community Foundation, supports local students accepted into vocational schools. Bryce A. Malsbary (BAM) Scholarship

The purpose of the Fund is to provide a scholarship for a person seeking higher education at an accredited institution, including but not limited to: vocational, technical, trade, college, or university levels of education. Assistance is for a resident of Henderson County or Polk County, North Carolina, leading to a degree. Candidate must show financial need, GPA 3.0 or higher, and have community service, work, or school activities. Student must be a legal resident of North Carolina.

This scholarship provides financial support to a graduating senior seeking to further his or her education beyond high school. The recipient must be in the top 25% of his or her graduating class and demonstrate financial need. This scholarship is for a worthy student who has participated in sports or extracurricular activities. 

The scholarship is renewable.

The Small Business Transition Grant for New Entrepreneurs, funded by the NIH, aims to support early-career scientists as they transition into entrepreneurship. This program invites eligible small business concerns to apply for STTR Phase I and Fast-Track grant applications, which include funding for research and development, as well as essential entrepreneurial training and mentorship. It is designed for first-time Principal Investigators, emphasizing the importance of industry mentorship in project development.

The Donald E. Meier Surgical Humanitarian Award, presented by the American Pediatric Surgical Association, honors a member dedicated to providing surgical care to underserved children without expecting reimbursement. This award recognizes significant humanitarian contributions, whether through local outreach or global missions. Nominations are submitted to the Board, which determines the frequency of the award based on the submissions received. This accolade highlights the commitment of surgeons to humanitarian efforts in the pediatric surgical field.

The Eric Dostie Memorial College Scholarship honors Eric Steven Dostie, a young boy with hemophilia, by providing financial support to students with bleeding disorders or their family members.
