We operate independently, with a common goal in mind: to be a platform for local people who want to pay it forward. To deliver resources to effective charitable programs. And to make our communities stronger and more successful by doing these two things.

Committed Scholarship

The Napa Valley Community Foundation Committed Scholarship benefits one graduating senior who attends a high school in Napa County, is the first person in their family to attend college, and who grew up in a household where English was not the first language spoken. Applicants must have a strong academic record coupled with demonstrated leadership qualities, extra-curricular activities, and heavy involvement in the community. They must also have a desire and a plan to return to the Napa Valley area to give back to the community after graduation. Recipients must attend a four-year college/university and will receive funding for up to four years of undergraduate study.

Scholarship award amount is renewable for up to four years. It will be based upon overall financial aid already received and any remaining funding gaps.

Dr. Rick Bachman Memorial Veterinary Medicine Scholarship

The Dr. Bachman Memorial Scholarship Fund celebrates the life of Dr. Richard Wayne Bachman, DVM, a distinguished veterinarian and beloved mentor. Affectionately known as “Dr. B” by colleagues and “Ricky” to friends, his commitment to animal welfare extended beyond his role as Lead Veterinarian at Napa Humane. He was notably involved in their weekend Wellness Clinics, serving the underserved, low-income, Spanish speaking community. Dr. Bachman was also deeply invested in the education of future veterinarians and vet technicians. This fund reflects his dedication to animal health, community service, and the nurturing of upcoming veterinary professionals.

The Dr. Rick Bachman Memorial Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Fund is made possible by Napa Humane and benefits current or former residents of Napa County, Solano County, or Lake County. This scholarship is geared towards veterinary students who are committed to practicing companion animal veterinary medicine and plan to give back to their community after graduation. Recipients must attend an accredited veterinary college or veterinary technology program and will receive funding for up to two years while working to complete their degree.

Kids' Chance of Massachusetts offers scholarships to children of workers who have been severely injured or killed in workplace accidents. This 501(c)(3) non-profit organization awards funds based on financial need, with applications accepted annually. Eligible students must be dependents aged 17-22, enrolled full-time in post-secondary education, and demonstrate financial need. Renewal applications are available for previous recipients who maintain satisfactory academic progress.

The Leukemia Exploration and Prevention Grant Program (LEAP) aims to advance cancer interception and prevention for patients with RUNX1 familial platelet disorder (RUNX1-FPD). This program supports interdisciplinary research teams investigating the mechanisms of leukemogenesis and innovative treatment strategies. With funding of up to $430,000 per year, LEAP encourages projects focused on both understanding clonal evolution and developing novel therapeutic approaches. The initiative seeks to bridge critical knowledge gaps and provide urgent interventions for high-risk populations.

The Arthritis Foundation's Clinical Fellowship RFP aims to address the rheumatology workforce shortage by inviting applications from institutions with clinical training programs. The CERF: Artist Get Ready Grant offers up to $1,000 to craft artists for safeguarding their studios and preparing for emergencies. Priority is given to underrepresented artists, including BIPOC and folk/traditional artists. Eligible activities encompass studio safety upgrades and disaster readiness. Applicants must be 18 years or older, residing in the U.S. for two years, and not have received this grant in the previous year. Funds must be used within six months, with outcomes documented for CERF+.

This scholarship is awarded to a female or female-identified student from a high school in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne, or Wyoming county who has 50 or more documented volunteer hours and and who has a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The Integration of Imaging and Fluid-Based Tumor Monitoring in Cancer Therapy (R01 Clinical Trial Optional) aims to enhance cancer treatment by integrating imaging and liquid biopsy assays. This initiative, led by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), encourages grant applications focused on assessing therapy responses and resistance emergence in patients. Key deadlines for submissions span from February 2025 to January 2028, providing ample opportunities for researchers to contribute to this vital area of cancer research.

This funding opportunity invites applications for R01 grants focused on molecular imaging methods to explore cancer inflammation in vivo. It aims to enhance understanding of dynamic interactions between inflammation and cancer through innovative imaging techniques. The NCCIH Natural Product Mid Phase Clinical Trial (R01 Clinical Trial Required) grant invites applications for mid-phase clinical trials focusing on natural products such as botanicals and dietary supplements. It aims to advance scientific knowledge by determining optimal dosing and patient responses. Applicants must provide preliminary data demonstrating bioavailability and measurable impacts on target engagement. This initiative will not support efficacy trials for cancer treatments and encourages early contact with NCCIH scientific contacts.

The NCCIH Natural Product Early Phase Clinical Trial Award supports innovative clinical trials of natural products, such as botanicals and dietary supplements, with a strong scientific basis. Applicants may receive up to three years of funding for pharmacokinetics and bioavailability studies, with potential for an additional three years to evaluate clinical outcomes. This initiative aims to optimize natural product delivery through innovative study designs.

Joseph G Markoly Foundation Inc

When Joseph Markoly originally established the foundation more than thirty years ago, its focus was on Alzheimer’s and heart disease support, funded through a number of the larger national disease-related organizations. Over time the focus has shifted to helping small to mid-size organizations in our local communities which support children and seniors in a variety of effective ways. 

Markoly Foundation was established in honor of Joseph G. Markoly, an entrepreneur and philanthropist who wanted to make a positive impact in people’s lives. Joseph’s family was affected directly by both Alzheimer’s and heart disease having lost a family member to each condition. For that reason, the foundation dedicates a majority of their resources to providing grants to organizations that focus on the treatment of each of these diseases. In addition, Markoly Foundation supports a variety of programs dedicated to helping children and seniors by providing services, supplies, programs and research in areas impacting these demographics.

Joseph G. Markoly Foundation Grant Support for Children’s Organizations

Children are the future of this world and the Markoly Foundation is proud to fund local programs dedicated to improving the lives of children and their families. From providing vision services for school kids to classes on parenting, we are proud to do our part to help fund critical community programs for families.

We are dedicated to providing funding for local nonprofit programs that improve the quality of life for all, but particularly for the children and elders in our community.

The Believe in Reading Grant, offered by The Steve and Loree Potash Family Foundation, targets established literacy programs with a proven track record. The foundation aims to support initiatives that address literacy across various age groups, particularly in areas of high need. Grants can be up to $10,000, with a focus on projects that earmark funds specifically for literacy. Applications are reviewed bi-monthly, and first-time applicants are limited to $3,000.

The NCAA Jim McKay Graduate Scholarship honors the legacy of journalist Jim McKay by awarding a one-time $10,000 scholarship to one male and one female student-athlete annually. Eligible candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.5, demonstrate integrity, and show interest in sports communication. There is no limit to the number of nominations from institutions, highlighting the NCAA's commitment to supporting student-athletes in their academic and professional pursuits.

The Edna B. Collins Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin, supports graduating seniors from Wautoma pursuing a degree in business. With awards ranging from $500 to $40,000, this scholarship aims to help students achieve their educational goals. Selection is based on academic performance, financial need, and extracurricular involvement, encouraging a diverse range of applicants to apply for this valuable opportunity.

The National Institutes on Deafness and other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) is inviting applications for a Coordinating Center for the National Human Ear Resource Network. This initiative aims to enhance research on auditory and vestibular disorders by providing essential resources, facilitating collaboration among laboratories, and promoting the use of human ear tissues in studies. The National Institutes on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) aims to support a collaborative network, the NIDCD National Human Ear Resource Network. This initiative provides essential resources for researchers focusing on auditory and vestibular disorders through the procurement and preparation of human ear tissues. The network enhances biomedical research by improving tissue preservation techniques, sharing digitized images, and offering specialized training for handling post-mortem human temporal bones.

Cumberland Community Foundation ("CCF") manages more than 60 scholarship endowment funds created by local individuals, families, civic organizations, and corporations who want to provide a path to higher education for future generations. 

Each year, Cumberland Community Foundation announces more than $1,000,000 in college scholarships to students from southeastern North Carolina.

Cooney-Wilderman Leadership Scholarship

LaVern Smith Scholarship

Scholarships awarded to members of a 4-H or a FFA chapter within Calhoun County. Applicants must be seniors in high school or enrolled in a technical school or college, and under the age of 19 at the time the application is submitted. GPA is not a determining factor.

The Emily Hall Tremaine Exhibition Award, established in 1998, supports innovative, thematic exhibitions that present contemporary art within unconventional frameworks. It fosters creativity by offering funding up to $200,000 for curators partnering with non-profit spaces. The award encourages exploration of critical ideas, emphasizing intellectual quality and public impact. Eligible applicants include established curators and institutions, aiming to promote artistic expression while enhancing community engagement and discourse through diverse projects.

This initiative aims to support research interventions targeting disparities in liver diseases and liver cancer among underserved populations in the U.S. It encourages innovative approaches to reduce health inequities and improve health outcomes. The funding opportunity is available through various deadlines for both standard and renewal applications, promoting multi-level strategies to address these critical health issues effectively.
