The California Casualty Music & Arts Grant supports K-12 public schools facing budget cuts that threaten their music and arts programs. Eligible applicants, who must be active employees of public K-12 schools and members of specified educator associations, can request grants of $250 for music or arts needs. Health Equity Capacity-Building (HECB) Program

Purpose

In 2021, the HECB grantees worked in partnership with MeHAF staff to develop this aspirational goal statement for the program:

The long-term goal of the HECB program is to provide a foundation for MeHAF and grantees to collectively work toward building a movement for health equity in Maine.

Through the program, grantees and MeHAF will forge new transformative, healing relationships, both between funder and grantee and across communities.

Working together, grantees and MeHAF will craft a system and structure that enables grantees to examine and strengthen their internal systems, skills, resources, networks, and audience so that they each have what they need to pursue their missions and build long-term, sustainable power.

MeHAF will use its voice and influence to spread equitable practices to other funders, the state, and mainstream organizations. 

By learning alongside grantees, MeHAF will build and sustain grant programs that advance justice and equity, and apply that learning across its other programs.

To support this goal, the program pairs unrestricted operating support grants with a cohort learning community and self-selected technical assistance supports, both in group and individualized settings, and works provide ways for grantees to collaborate and connect.

The EPSCoR Research Infrastructure Improvement-Focused Collaborations Program (RII-FEC) aims to enhance research capabilities in eligible jurisdictions by fostering partnerships among government, higher education, and industry. This program supports interdisciplinary teams of researchers to tackle significant challenges in STEM fields, promoting diversity and broadening participation. By integrating Minority-Serving Institutions and early-career faculty from underrepresented backgrounds, RII-FEC seeks to build sustainable STEM capacity and drive impactful discoveries across regions.

The Nature-Based Education Program Grant aims to enhance individual well-being and community strength through equitable access to outdoor experiences and education for all Mainers. This funding supports initiatives that foster strong networks, diverse leadership, and systemic change, prioritizing organizations led by historically underrepresented groups. With a total of $1,305,000 available, grants will fund both systems-level and direct programming efforts, ensuring transformational impact within the nature-based education field.

The Snowmobile Disaster Relief Grant provides financial assistance to registered snowmobile clubs or political subdivisions affected by catastrophic weather events impacting state-funded trail systems. Eligible applicants must be incorporated and provide a detailed project map. This grant covers various projects, including bridge restorations and storm damage remediation. Applications must be submitted within 60 days after the event, ensuring timely support for critical trail repairs.

The Snowmobile Municipal Grant supports municipalities and counties in funding the construction and maintenance of snowmobile trails. It requires a one-year commitment and local financial contribution, with the potential for state matching funds of up to 50% or 70% for collaborative projects. Eligible expenses include labor, materials, and equipment rental. This grant encourages local governments to actively participate in maintaining existing trails, fostering regional recreational opportunities.

The John H. Marvin Local Association Award, presented by the Maine Education Association, honors local associations that excel in advocating for member rights and effective bargaining practices. Foundation for Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

The FCIDD was founded for the purpose of providing support to organizations that serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Mission Statement: The Foundation supports organizations which enhance the lives of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities by promoting research, projects, education and advocacy. 

Nonprofit Project Grants

The Foundation for Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (FCIDD) funds 501(c)(3) organizations working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages, primarily in the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia. 

Funding Priorities

• Grants will be awarded for the purpose of primarily benefiting, including, or increasing accessibility for individuals with intellectual or development disabilities.
• Grants may be awarded for scholarships or training personnel in the care and education of individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. 
• Grants shall mainly be distributed to a Charity whose primary purpose or whose project is to support individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. A Charity which has a project to benefit individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities based on financial need shall be awarded the grant money based upon its own objective criteria and without any special preference to members of Civitan or members of their family.

Limited to two awards annually, it highlights the importance of diversity and inclusion in health education.

The Golden Apple Award, presented by the Maine Education Association, honors individuals or groups committed to enhancing local schools and supporting community children. Eligibility includes Maine residents or MEA members who demonstrate outstanding service, such as organizing community efforts for educational issues or volunteering in schools. This award highlights the dedication of educators in advocating for equity and quality education for all students across Maine.

The Adult College Completion Fund, established in 2014 by the Maine Community Foundation, offers tuition assistance to Maine adults seeking degrees or certificates from accredited post-secondary institutions. The fund supports both short-term and long-term educational programs, with rolling application deadlines for short-term awards and specific deadlines of June 15 and November 15 for long-term scholarships. This initiative aims to enhance educational opportunities and promote workforce development in Maine.

The Bayard Long Award supports students researching plant species in the Philadelphia area and surrounding regions. With a typical funding of $2000, it encourages studies that enhance understanding of local flora, including field and herbarium work.
