Humane Organization Grant Program 

Mission

To enhance the quality of life of shelter/ rescue animals and to increase their chances for adoption. 

The St. Croix Valley Foundation (SCVF) Humane Organization grant program funded by the Compassionate Animal Fund, is accepting applications (invitation only) from Managed Open Admission humane organizations located in the upper Midwest. The grants, ranging up to $3,000, can cover items on your “wish list” including food, supplies, infrastructure needs, and veterinary cost. 

Funding Criteria

Grants are intended to provide funds for items such as food, supplies, medicine, spay/neuter programs (for in-house animals to aid in adoption) newsletters, or other needs and/or programs that most benefit the humane organization.

​We understand that shelters may differ in the services or alternatives they offer during the waiting period prior to intake. If your facility is at capacity, you must provide a clear statement outlining how emergency surrenders and stray animals are handled, including the procedures your organization follows to operate as an Open Admission shelter.  

The Community Identity and Heritage Grant, administered by the Minnesota Humanities Center, allocates $6,299,000 to support projects that celebrate and teach the diverse cultures of Minnesota. This funding opportunity is open to individuals and organizations, with grants up to $300,000 available. It aims to enhance cultural heritage work for historically underrepresented communities, including Indigenous groups and recent immigrants. All funds must be utilized for new initiatives, ensuring the continuation and growth of Minnesota's rich cultural landscape.

The Torske Klubben Fellowship, established by a Minneapolis luncheon club in 1933, supports UMN graduate students with ties to Norway. This fellowship aims to foster future leaders with strong academic credentials and a cultural interest in Norway. The Express Health Information Outreach Awards aim to enhance public health by increasing access to biomedical information for U.S. health professionals and the general public. Quit Partner™ Ambassadors

The Minnesota Department of Health seeks proposals from community organizations to engage community members and increase knowledge of Quit PartnerTM programs. The goal of this work is to increase knowledge and reach of Quit Partner programs and ultimately reduce commercial tobacco use rates among adults in Minnesota. 

Commercial tobacco products are tobacco products manufactured and sold by the tobacco industry, like cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, and chew. Commercial tobacco is different from traditional or sacred tobacco, also known as Caŋsasa, Asemaa, or Kinnikinnick, and which are used by American Indian communities for sacred purposes.

PFund Foundation

PFund Foundation builds equity with LGBTQ+ communities across the Upper Midwest by providing grants and scholarships, developing leaders, and inspiring giving.

Community Grants

PFund Community Grants are for LGBTQ+ serving nonprofits in the Upper Midwest. These grants range from $1,000-$20,000+ and include organizational membership to the PFund Leadership Institute, a monthly cohort based learning and networking opportunity.

• PRISM Fund

PRISM (Promoting Rural Interconnections for Sexual Minorities). Fund supports rural LGBTQ+ serving nonprofit organizations. Grants are made possible by the Northwest Area Foundation.

• TRANScend Fund

TRANScend Fund supports Trans & gender nonconforming serving nonprofit organizations and programs. Grants are made possible by Drop Deadlift Gorgeous and donors.

• Bi+ Fund

Bisexual Fund supports noprofit organizations primarily serving the bisexual community, including but not limited to bisexual, omnisexual, pansexual, polysexual, or sexually fluid. Grants are made possible by an endowed fund. 

The McKnight Artist Fellowships for Ceramic Artists supports mid-career ceramic artists in Minnesota with $25,000 grants to foster creative development. Recipients can explore new techniques, collaborate, and enhance their artistic practice. The program culminates in a workshop and a group exhibition at Northern Clay Center, showcasing the work at multiple venues across Minnesota and western Wisconsin. This initiative highlights the foundation's commitment to nurturing local talent and elevating the arts community.

The Produce Safety Mini-Grant (MN) aims to enhance on-farm food safety for Minnesota produce farmers by providing reimbursement for expenses related to food safety improvements. With approximately $42,400 available, grants of up to $800 are offered without requiring matching funds. The selection process involves a lottery system with multiple rounds, focusing on specific eligibility criteria, including completion of food safety training and compliance with safety regulations.

Behavioral Health Division

The Behavioral Health Division (BHD) oversees Minnesota's mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment services that are paid for with state and federal funds. To support these services, BHD awards grants to counties, tribes, and nongovernmental providers. Behavioral health services include prevention, treatment, short-term and long-term care, as well as home and community-based services. BHD manages about 700 grants annually.

Request for Proposals for a Grantee to Provide Opioid Epidemic Response Services

Objective of RFP

The Opiate Epidemic Response Advisory Council (OERAC), in conjunction with the Minnesota Department of Human Services, through its Behavioral Health Administration (STATE), is seeking Proposals from qualified Responders to provide services aimed at addressing the opioid epidemic in Minnesota. These services include prevention and harm reduction for opioid use disorder (OUD), expansion and enhancement of the continuum of care for opioid related substance use disorders (SUD), and chronic pain management and alternative treatments.

The term of any resulting contract is anticipated to be for three and a half (3.5) years. STATE may extend the contract up to a total of five (5) years.

OERAC and STATE have identified four categories to meet the purpose of this RFP, each containing multiple focus areas. The four categories available for funding under this RFP are:

• Category A– Primary Prevention and Education for Opioid Related Substance Use Disorders
• Category B – Harm Reduction Services
• Category C – Expansion and Enhancement of Continuum of Care for Opioid Related Substance Use
• Category D – Chronic pain and Alternative Treatments

The Loft Mentor Series supports twelve early career writers in Minnesota to collaborate with eight acclaimed mentors in poetry and prose. This prestigious program, established in 1979, offers a year of intensive workshops and individual guidance, culminating in public readings. Funded by the Jerome Foundation and NEA, fellows receive $2,800 to assist with program costs, ensuring they can focus on refining their craft and connecting with the literary community.
