MNRS Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an MNRS member who has significantly advanced the profession of nursing either through an extensive program of research or creation of environments where research can flourish, and whose sustained leadership and distinguished career yielded outstanding and noteworthy accomplishments.

Harriet H. Werley New Investigator Award

The purpose of the Harriet H. Werley New Investigator Award is to recognize the scientific contribution of a new investigator who has conducted nursing research that has the potential to enhance the science and practice of nursing.

Distinguished Contribution Award

The purpose of the Distinguished Contribution Award is to recognize the scientific contribution of a member who has conducted or promoted research, which has enhanced the science and practice of nursing in the MNRS region.

The Joseph Durda Foundation, established in 1989, prioritizes charitable giving to alleviate poverty, support orphans, and assist disabled individuals. The Foundation seeks to empower underprivileged youth through education and invest in medical research, particularly cardiovascular health. Grants are directed towards organizations that positively impact communities, especially those where board members reside, while maintaining a focus on military veterans and their families. Note that individual grants and funding outside these priorities are not supported.

The Health Care Workplace Safety Grant program, established by Minnesota's 2023 Session Law, aims to enhance safety in health care environments by funding initiatives that train staff in de-escalation and support services. With a total of $1.5 million available through 30 grants, each grant may provide up to $50,000 to improve workplace safety and prevent violence, ensuring a secure atmosphere for both staff and patients.

PFund Foundation supports LGBTQ+ communities in the Upper Midwest by providing event sponsorship funding for various gatherings, including fundraisers and pride festivals. Organizations eligible for funding must align with the foundation's mission, serve LGBTQ+ individuals, and be registered as 501c3 nonprofit entities. Events must be located within the foundation's service area and be scheduled at least 60 days in advance. This initiative aims to foster community engagement and support.

The Skin Lightening Products Public Awareness and Education Grant aims to enhance public knowledge about the health risks linked to mercury-containing skin lightening products. These products, often imported illegally, pose serious health dangers. This grant encourages grantees to implement culturally relevant and community-based educational initiatives to inform the public and promote safer alternatives, thus fostering a healthier environment and informed consumer choices.

The University of Minnesota, in collaboration with the Minnesota Department of Health, offers the BRIIDGE program to prepare international medical graduates (IMGs) for residency. This competitive nine-month program includes comprehensive training through inpatient, outpatient, community, and classroom experiences. Participants are selected based on eligibility criteria and personal motivations, ensuring readiness for residency. Accepted applicants must maintain personal health insurance and may not enroll if they match for residency in mid-March. Multiple applications are permitted.

Minnesota Market Bucks Program

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) requests proposals to administer the statewide Market Bucks Program.

The purpose of this request is to provide funding to one organization to administer the Market Bucks Program, which provides nutrition incentives to Minnesotans who use the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) at Minnesota Farmers Markets.

Market Bucks increases the purchasing power of SNAP customers at farmers markets and mobile markets across Minnesota by offering a dollar-for-dollar match (up to $10 per visit) for SNAP purchases made using Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards. This initiative supports food access and local agriculture while aligning with the broader public health goal of improving nutrition for low-income individuals and families.

Experienced culture bearers in Minnesota who sustain and share community culture, heritage, and traditional arts can receive US $25,000 unrestricted fellowships supporting their cultural practice. The McKnight Culture Bearers Fellowship from Indigenous Roots offers professional development, mentoring support, facilities access, and networking, which may benefit museum-based educators and cultural practitioners preserving folk and traditional arts.

The McKnight Foundation's Arts & Culture Grant Program supports initiatives that empower artists and culture bearers in Minnesota. With a focus on enhancing the visibility of underrepresented groups and fostering community engagement, the program provides both unrestricted and restricted grants. Organizations can apply for funding to develop innovative projects that align with the foundation's commitment to justice and creativity. Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis, with a three-month review period.

The McKnight Foundation's Midwest Climate and Energy Grant focuses on funding initiatives that address the climate crisis while promoting equity in the Midwest. The foundation supports projects that transform energy systems, decarbonize transportation and buildings, and enhance community resilience. It aims to engage diverse populations and foster innovative solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and advance sustainable practices. Eligible organizations include nonprofits, governmental entities, and those in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa, with an emphasis on collaborative, impactful projects.

Minnesota community-engaged artists working beyond the emerging stage can receive US $28,000 to deepen socially or culturally transformative practice. Focused on artist training and art for social change, Pillsbury United Communities supports mid-career creators with unrestricted funds, professional development, and opportunities that may benefit artists collaborating with museums and cultural institutions.

The Grotto Foundation Grant focuses on enhancing the well-being of individuals and families through community-led initiatives in Minnesota. Organizations can apply if they address at least three of four key areas: Youth Development, Postsecondary Success, Community Safety & Neighborhood Development, and Mentoring. The Foundation invites selected organizations to apply, with grant decisions made three times a year, fostering sustainable solutions for local challenges.

The Minnesota Department of Education is offering the Concurrent Enrollment Introduction to Teaching Grant to enhance the teacher workforce by funding programs under the Postsecondary Education Options (PSEO). This initiative aims to develop and expand dual-credit courses in education for high school students, particularly focusing on American Indian and students of color, thus promoting diversity and inclusion in teaching careers across Minnesota.

The Mary C. Murphy Library Construction Grant, offered by the Minnesota Department of Education, supports public library renovations and construction projects aimed at enhancing accessibility. With funding up to $1 million for improvements and $450,000 for accessibility, this grant prioritizes eliminating architectural barriers and ensuring safe, inviting library environments. The initiative reflects the Department's commitment to equitable education access for all Minnesotans, fostering lifelong learning opportunities within communities.

The McKnight Fellowships for Fiber Artists support talented Minnesota artists with a significant body of work in fiber art for at least eight years. Each fellow receives a $25,000 unrestricted award, along with professional development opportunities, critiques, and public exhibitions. This initiative emphasizes racial equity and inclusivity, welcoming diverse cultural perspectives in the arts community. The program recognizes mid-career artists, fostering their ongoing creativity and contributions to Minnesota's vibrant arts ecosystem.

The McKnight Fellowships for Book Artists, administered by the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, offers significant support for talented, mid-career book artists in Minnesota. Each year, two fellowships are awarded, providing $25,000 unrestricted grants, studio access, and professional development opportunities. This program aims to cultivate artistic excellence in book arts while benefiting the community. Eligible artists must demonstrate professional achievements and sustained experience in the field, contributing to Minnesota's vibrant cultural landscape.

Training registrations and stipend distribution for direct support workers

DHS, through its Disability Services Division, is seeking Proposals from qualified Responders to administer training registrations, enhanced rate and budget training verification and stipend distribution for direct support workers.

The term of any resulting contract is anticipated to be one year, from July 1, 2026, until June 30, 2027. STATE may extend the contract up to a total of five (5) years.

Background

Direct Support Workers (DSWs) who provide services through the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) programs Community First Services and Supports (CFSS) budget model, Personal Care Assistance (PCA) Choice, Consumer Directed Community Supports (CDCS), and the Consumer Support Grant (CSG) are eligible to receive stipends when they have meet certain requirements. Additionally, when DSWs complete qualifying trainings, the services they provide become eligible for an enhanced reimbursement rate or trigger an enhanced budget when they are provided to people using CFSS, PCA services, CDCS, or CSG who are eligible for a certain number of hours of PCA services.  

DSWs comprise many types of diversity, including but not limited to people with a wide variety of:

• Racial, cultural, spiritual and or religious backgrounds
• Linguistic backgrounds, including both languages and dialects and accents; 
• Geographic locations; 
• Levels of education; 
• Disabilities, including invisible disabilities; 
• Marital statuses; 
• Types of families; 
• Sexual orientations; 
• Ages; 
• Nationalities and all immigration statuses; 
• Members of tribal nations; 
• Different sexes, including transsexual and intersex individuals; and or 
• Different genders, including people who identify themselves as gender-fluid or gender-neutral. 

Funding Availability

Voluntary training registration funding: $ 30,000, cost of training ranges from $75 to $200 dollars each. Additional funding may be added if funding runs out prior to the end of FY27. 

Voluntary Training Stipend: $ 1,125,000, stipends in the amount of $750 for issuing 1,500 stipends. Additional stipend funding may be available depending on the remaining balance in FY26. 

Retention Stipend: $ 10,000,800, stipends in the amount of $1,200 for issuing 8,334 stipends. Additional stipend funding may be available depending on the remaining balance in FY26.

By partnering with 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, the program seeks to drive lasting change within communities through collaborative grantmaking. Request for Proposals for a Grantee to Participate in a Community Based, Peer Supported Drop-In Center Pilot Program

Objective of RFP

The Minnesota Department of Human Services, through its Integrated Services Section in the Behavioral Health Administration (STATE), is seeking Proposals from qualified responders (“Responders”) to participate in a Community Based, Peer Supported Drop-In Center Pilot Program. The term of any resulting contract is anticipated to be for three (3) years, from January 1st , 2027.

Background

STATE is launching this Request for Proposals (RFP) to test proof of concept for community-based, peer supported drop-in center programs that support individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI), as defined in 42 C.F.R. § 483.102(b)(1). This RFP’s goals include, but are not limited to, deepening exploration and research into service design that can be transferred across different Minnesota populations and geographic regions; developing internal controls to ensure program integrity while effectively safeguarding for fraud, waste, and abuse; and assessing utilization management to inform fiscal modeling and scalability of the programs across Minnesota. This drop-in center model pilot program will provide peer-driven, non-clinical, and recovery-oriented psychosocial support. The selected Responders to this RFP (“Grantee(s)”) will work with STATE to gather specific data as outlined in this Request for Proposals below. To obtain a true representation of the psychosocial support needs throughout Minnesota, this project aims to include at least one Grantee provider from each of the following categories: Tribal Nation and/or Urban Indian Organization, metropolitan area, and greater Minnesota.

The AGRI Crop Research Grant Program offers funding for applied crop research that benefits Minnesota's farmers and economy within three to seven years. This program aims to translate scientific knowledge into practical applications, ensuring that research findings are publicly accessible. Proposals must include a plan for outreach to disseminate results, focusing on enhancing the quality, quantity, or value of agricultural products.

The AGRI Livestock Investment Grant, offered by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, provides funding for livestock operations to enhance infrastructure and equipment. Eligible projects can receive up to 10% of total costs, with grants ranging from $400 to $25,000 for improvements in livestock housing and facilities. Applications are accepted for efforts that modernize operations, with a project completion deadline of three years. This initiative aims to support sustainable growth in Minnesota's agricultural sector.

The AGRI Minnesota Value Added Grant Program supports value-added businesses by providing grants for equipment investments. Aimed at enhancing the production capacity and market access for Minnesota agricultural products, it prioritizes projects that improve food safety and increase hemp fiber production. Applicants must provide a cash match, covering 50% of the first $50,000 and 75% of any additional costs, with a maximum award of $150,000. This initiative fosters economic growth in the agricultural sector.

The AGRI Sustainable Agriculture Demonstration Grant Program supports innovative research and demonstrations in sustainable agriculture. It prioritizes projects that enhance profitability, resource efficiency, and environmental sustainability. Eligible projects include practices such as conservation tillage, integrated pest management, and energy-efficient farming. The program encourages participation from farmers and historically underserved communities, aiming to foster diverse agricultural practices and improve marketing opportunities while addressing conservation and profitability.

The Dairy Business Planning Grant supports Minnesota dairy farms and processors by funding 50% of the cost, up to $5,000, for hiring experts to provide technical assistance. This includes evaluations of operations, legal advice for transitions, and expansion plans. Approximately $83,000 is available each fiscal year, enabling applicants to request grants between $500 and $5,000. The grant also requires a comprehensive business plan report to be submitted with reimbursement requests, outlining goals and financial projections.
