Best Grants for Teachers Continuing Education in Minnesota

The Nitrogen Management Financial Assistance Pilot Program offers competitive funding of up to $5,000 per year for three years to producers implementing agricultural practices that minimize nitrate-nitrogen leaching into groundwater. Funded by the 2023 Legislative Session, the program encourages sustainable farming initiatives within Level 2 Drinking Water Supply Management Areas. Eligible practices include cover crops and precision agriculture, aiming to protect water resources while supporting agricultural productivity.

Bridging Conservation Grant Program

The purpose of the Bridging Conservation Grant Program to promote conservation to non-native English-speaking communities by creating new or expanding existing outreach and education programs. The term “non-native English-speaking communities” refers to communities whose first and/or primary language is not English.

The primary purpose of activities funded through this grant is to promote conservation to non-native English-speaking communities through education and outreach programs and activities; ensure conservation information, training, and programs are linguistically and culturally relevant and accessible; equip non-native English-speaking communities with the knowledge to practice conservation in their daily lives and advocate for environmental stewardship.

Eligible activities may include administration/coordination, education/information, project development, and supplies and equipment (i.e. with a primary purpose of outreach and/or education). 

Funding available and match

A total of $135,000 is available through this Request for Proposal. Grant requests must be between a minimum of $10,000 and a maximum of $45,000. Proposals that do not fall within this dollar range will not be accepted. There is no required match for this program. Prior to final selection, BWSR staff may engage applicants to resolve questions or discuss modifications to the project or funding request. 

The Marketing Investment Cost-Share Program, administered by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, provides up to $300,000 in funding for Minnesota-based food, beverage, or pet food companies. This program supports high-impact marketing activities aimed at promoting branded products. Eligible small-to-medium enterprises can apply for reimbursements on various marketing expenses from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, until funds are exhausted. This initiative aims to enhance market growth opportunities for local manufacturers.

Kansas Association of Independent Crop Consultants Scholarship Fund

The Kansas Association of Independent Crop Consultants created this scholarship fund to award to a qualified individual majoring in an agricultural field.

The Rhythmic Sabbatical Fellowship, offered by Nexus Community Partners, provides a unique 8-month program for BIPOC leaders in Minnesota, emphasizing the importance of deep rest. From April to November 2025, selected fellows will participate in monthly sabbatical experiences designed to support their well-being and community impact. With opportunities to join retreats, receive stipends, and access resources, this fellowship aims to empower individuals dedicated to community change while acknowledging the challenges they face in taking time off.

Project Lead The Way is offering a rolling grant opportunity for schools across the US to implement the PLTW Gateway program for the first time. With total funding of $9,100, the grant covers participation fees and training registration costs. Schools, including public, private, and charter, are encouraged to apply, particularly those serving low-income and minority majority populations. This initiative aims to enhance educational pathways in STEM for diverse student groups.

The Early-Career Artist Project Grant supports Minnesota-based artists in creating public artworks. This grant emphasizes accessibility and originality, fostering diverse artistic expressions in the community. Eligible artists must demonstrate 2-10 years of experience and be focused on developing their artistic voice. The initiative aims to uplift early-career artists, ensuring their work is visible and impactful in public spaces. This program is a valuable opportunity for emerging creatives looking to contribute to Minnesota's vibrant public art scene.

The Minnesota Department of Human Services is seeking proposals for psychiatric residential treatment services for individuals under 21, addressing complex mental health needs. This initiative is aimed at new providers looking to become Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) sites, with contracts anticipated to last from December 1, 2025, to June 30, 2027, potentially extendable for up to five years. This RFP represents a critical step in enhancing mental health support for youth in Minnesota.

STI and HIV Prevention Grant Program

The Minnesota Department of Health aims to identify organizations across the state to implement HIV prevention initiatives centered on HIV testing and PrEP. These programs are designed to reduce HIV transmission by prioritizing populations most affected by the epidemic, ensuring that available state funding achieves the greatest possible impact.

Collectively, these activities advance the goals of the National HIV/AIDS strategy for the United States (NHAS), Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) initiative – (diagnose, treat, prevent and respond), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s high impact HIV prevention (HIP) approach, which emphasizes a comprehensive whole-person approach, and the legislatively mandated END HIV Minnesota (MN) initiative. The End HIV MN initiative aims to eliminate new HIV infections and improve health outcomes for people living with HIV in Minnesota, with a goal to reduce new HIV infections in Minnesota by at least 75% in 2035 by prioritizing communities most affected by HIV. 

The McKnight Choreographer Fellowships provide three $25,000 awards annually to Minnesota choreographers, offering unrestricted support for artistic development. This fellowship encourages study, experimentation, and new project exploration. It aims to recognize experienced artists who have made significant contributions to their field. In addition to financial support, fellows receive career development resources and can attend a four-day retreat in Minnesota, along with funding for collaborative opportunities in New York City.

The McKnight Fellowships for Dancers offer three annual fellowships of $25,000 each to Minnesota dancers, supporting their artistic growth and exploration. These unrestricted awards allow recipients to dedicate time to study, experimentation, and new projects. Designed for established artists with at least eight years of committed dance work, the program recognizes and nurtures talent that contributes to Minnesota's cultural fabric. Additional benefits include career development support and an exclusive retreat opportunity.

The McKnight Media Artist Fellowships, offered by FilmNorth in collaboration with the McKnight Foundation, provide four $25,000 fellowships to mid-career media artists residing in Minnesota. These fellowships aim to recognize artistic excellence and support the creative work of individuals with a strong commitment to media arts. In addition to the financial award, fellows benefit from public acknowledgment, networking opportunities, and professional support, fostering a vibrant community of artists.

The McKnight Fellowships for Musicians, administered by the MacPhail Center for Music, support mid-career musicians in Minnesota who have demonstrated artistic excellence and commitment. Each year, four $25,000 fellowships are awarded to solo artists or small ensembles. These funds enable musicians to focus on their craft, pursue new projects, and enhance their artistic growth. This program emphasizes inclusivity across various musical genres, celebrating the vibrant culture of Minnesota's music scene.

The McKnight Fellowships in Playwriting support mid-career playwrights in Minnesota, providing a $25,000 stipend, $2,500 for play development, and $1,400 for travel. This fellowship recognizes playwrights who demonstrate a distinct artistic vision and commitment to their craft. Eligible applicants must have had at least one professional production and maintain residency in Minnesota. Recipients will become Affiliated Writers of the Playwrights' Center, contributing to the vibrant landscape of theater in the region.

The Core Writer Grant Program is a prestigious initiative by the Playwrights' Center that supports a diverse group of professional playwrights over a three-year term. Selected writers engage in workshops to develop new works while receiving guidance from industry experts. With 25-35 playwrights involved annually, the program fosters artistic growth and provides opportunities for public readings and networking, enhancing the careers of emerging talents in the theater community.

The Many Voices Fellowship supports early career Black and Indigenous playwrights in Minnesota, offering a $25,000 salary and $3,000 for play development. This two-year program focuses on enhancing artistic vision through collaboration with experienced theater professionals. Since its inception in 1994, it has awarded over 140 fellowships to diverse voices in theater, providing crucial financial support and mentorship to cultivate new works and enrich the American theater landscape.

The McKnight National Residency and Commission Grant supports a distinguished playwright from outside Minnesota to create a new play. The selected recipient will collaborate with the Playwrights' Center through workshops and will present a public reading of the play. This initiative aims to foster dialogue between local and external artists. Benefits include a $15,000 commission and workshop funding up to $12,250. The residency runs from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.

The McKnight Theater Artist Fellowships, offered by the Playwrights’ Center, support mid-career theater artists residing in Minnesota. With a grant of $25,000, the fellowship aims to recognize and advance the work of artists such as actors, directors, and designers. Applicants are encouraged to showcase their work through live performances, though not mandatory. This program promotes artistic merit and professional achievement, ensuring that the selected fellows can significantly enhance their careers.

The McKnight Visual Artist Fellowships, administered by the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, support mid-career Minnesota artists through six annual $25,000 unrestricted grants. This initiative, backed by the McKnight Foundation, fosters artistic growth by connecting fellows with national critics and providing professional development opportunities. Since 1982, the program has aimed to enhance the artistic merit and career trajectories of visual artists, contributing significantly to Minnesota's vibrant arts community.

The McKnight Artist Fellowships for Writers supports mid-career Minnesota writers with five annual $25,000 awards. These fellowships, administered by The Loft, alternate between creative prose and poetry/spoken word, alongside a dedicated award for children's literature. Applicants must be legal Minnesota residents and may only apply for one fellowship annually, with specific eligibility criteria ensuring diversity in creative disciplines. The program emphasizes the importance of artists and cultural bearers in fostering Minnesota's vibrant artistic community.

The Minnesota Department of Human Services is offering funding for mental health screenings, assessments, and referrals for children involved in child welfare and juvenile justice systems. This initiative aims to support uninsured and underinsured children, with a focus on providing necessary diagnostic assessments and treatment. Applications are accepted from Minnesota counties and tribal nations, with funding beginning on January 1st following the annual data collection cycle. Contract amounts are fixed and non-negotiable.

CSA Midwest Region: Beth Dunlap Award

 The Midwestern Region presents The Beth Dunlap Award at the Regional Symposium. The award will be offered to a person who has made contributions worthy of the highest commendation and the achievements will have continued importance. Beth Dunlap was one of the founding members of the Midwestern Region. A fashion illustrator and artist, she passed away in 2009.

The LRAC Legacy Individual Grants offer up to $6,000 for individual artists in Minnesota's nine-county region, promoting arts access, learning, and cultural heritage. Eligible projects include public art production, artist residencies in schools, performances, educational experiences, workshops, and exhibits. First-time applicants are encouraged to contact LRAC for guidance before applying, ensuring they understand the program's requirements and maximize their chances for funding.

The Family Supportive Housing Grant Program aims to provide stable housing for families in need through a one-time funding of $700,000. Managed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services, this initiative focuses on supporting families facing homelessness or other barriers. The program emphasizes the importance of affordable, permanent housing and family support services, with a commitment to allocate at least 40% of funds to organizations outside the metropolitan area and 10% to Minnesota Tribal Nations.

The Medica Foundation Grant for MN Early Childhood Health supports early intervention programs aimed at the growth and development of children from birth to age 12. With a focus on health equity, the grant prioritizes proposals that serve marginalized communities, including BIPOC, immigrants, and individuals experiencing homelessness. Grants can be up to $100,000 and are awarded to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations in Minnesota. This initiative aims to improve healthcare access and quality through measurable outcomes.

The EDA Chicago FY 2016–FY 2019 Planning Program and Local Technical Assistance Program aims to enhance regional economic development through comprehensive planning and technical assistance. By supporting the development and implementation of Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS), EDA empowers designated organizations, including Indian Tribes, to create jobs and foster economic resilience in distressed areas. This initiative focuses on strategic investments to facilitate effective economic development practices, ensuring sustainable growth and prosperity across regions.

The George Family Foundation's Environment Program focuses on enhancing access to natural spaces and engaging underrepresented youth in outdoor activities. The foundation seeks proposals that align with its mission of fostering connections to nature, promoting environmental stewardship, and ensuring community well-being. Funding is limited to 501(c)(3) organizations primarily operating in specific regions, including Minnesota and the Vail Valley. The foundation does not support capital improvements, endowments, or scientific research.
