Native Language Revitalization Grant

Grant purpose

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) makes funding available to school districts, charter schools, and Tribal contract schools in Minnesota to provide language instruction in Dakota and Anishinaabe languages or another language indigenous to the United States or Canada, pursuant to Laws of Minnesota 2025, 1st Special Sess. chapter 10, article 6, section 6, subdivision 5.

Funding

Funding is made available through Laws of Minnesota 2025, 1st Special Sess. chapter 10, article 6, section 6, subdivision 5. MDE estimates that up to $13,500,000 is available for the initial grant round. Any funds remaining after the initial round will be available for subsequent grant rounds. Applicants are encouraged to apply during the initial round as the timing and funding available for subsequent rounds will be determined after the first round is complete.

Applicants are encouraged to request no more than $500,000 for the two-year grant period. However, applicants may request more than $500,000 if they can clearly demonstrate the need for such funding.

The James M. Cox Foundation Grant offers support to nonprofit organizations focused on conservation, early childhood education, family empowerment, and health. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt and located in areas where Cox Enterprises operates. Grant applications are accepted year-round, with deadlines before Trustee meetings. Preference is given to organizations with a history of local engagement. This foundation embodies the philanthropic spirit of its founder, James M. Cox, by giving back to the community.

Law Enforcement Emergency Device Letter of Interest Opportunity Round 2

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) makes this funding available to Special or Independent School Districts, Charter Schools, Tribally Controlled Schools, Minnesota State Academies, or Cooperative Units for the purpose of installing one secure exterior master key box that will allow law enforcement access to a locked school building during a crisis. All applicants that meet the eligibility criteria will be awarded a grant to install up to one device per selected building. 

The Automation Training Incentive Program, offered by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), provides grants up to $35,000 to small businesses in manufacturing or skilled production. This initiative supports training for incumbent workers on new automation technologies. Eligible businesses must be located outside the seven-county metropolitan area or in specific cities. The Low Income Worker Training Program, offered by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, provides essential job-specific training grants of up to $200,000 for entities helping low-income individuals. Minnesota Childcare Economic Development Grant

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), through its Office of Childcare and Community Services, is seeking proposals from qualified responders to receive grants to be used to implement solutions to reduce the childcare shortage in the state. This includes but is not limited to funding for childcare business start-ups or expansion, retention and long-term sustainability of current child care programs, training, facility modifications, direct subsidies or incentives to retain employees, or improvements required for licensing, and assistance with licensing and other regulatory requirements.

Private Well Protection Grant

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) received funding from the Clean Water Fund to provide testing and outreach to private well users. A portion of this funding is available through grants aimed at increasing private drinking water well testing among households that rely on private wells for drinking water. Eligible entities may apply for funding to support activities that promote and provide well water testing within their communities.

Over 1.1 million Minnesotans across Minnesota have fewer safeguards because they use a private well. Unlike their peers connected to public water, private well users are responsible for voluntarily protecting and testing their well and addressing water quality issues. MDH received funding from the Clean Water Fund to ensure safe drinking water for private well users. A portion of this funding is being offered as grants to promote private well testing among private well users. Each entity will have the opportunity to apply for up to a predetermined amount of funds to promote well testing for households that rely on private well water for drinking water that will include testing for five common contaminants (arsenic, coliform bacteria, lead, manganese, and nitrate). This will be an iterative and communicative process in which grantees will work with MDH to carry out the grant goals. Entities can submit a shared proposal that adds each entity’s predetermined amount together.

The Good Relatives Collaborative Grants, funded by the Bush Foundation, aim to empower grassroots and Native-led organizations across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and the 23 Native nations. This initiative provides responsive grants of $50,000 and $100,000 to support community leadership, healing, and cultural revitalization. By fostering collaboration and innovation, the program seeks to address the unique needs of Native communities while promoting accessible philanthropy and sustainable growth.

The F26AS00085 Aquatic Invasive Species Interjurisdictional Grants, funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, aim to support interjurisdictional projects addressing aquatic invasive species in the Great Lakes. Eligible applicants include Great Lakes states and tribes, focusing on action-oriented projects that enhance regional priorities. The initiative will fund both sustaining projects, which build on previous efforts, and new projects that present innovative solutions for effective management and prevention of aquatic invasive species.

Applicants must have at least ten years of experience, live in Minnesota, and produce original work. The Mid-Career Professional Development Grant is designed for Minnesota-based mid-career artists aiming to enhance their public art careers. This funding supports project development and various professional activities, including residencies, apprenticeships, and skill development. Applicants must have lived in Minnesota for at least 12 of the last 24 months, and their projects must be original and not replicate previous work. This grant fosters creativity and professional growth in the public art sector.

The Early-Career Artist Research & Development Grant supports Minnesota-based early-career artists engaged in public art research and development. This funding aims to amplify diverse artistic voices, particularly from BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and rural communities. Grants of $2,500 each can be used for activities like planning and community dialogues related to public art projects. Applicants must demonstrate originality and reside in Minnesota, ensuring all projects are freely accessible to the community.

Statewide Self-advocacy Network for Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

DHS, through its Disability Service Division (STATE), is seeking Proposals from qualified Responders to Establish, Strengthen and Expand a Statewide Self-advocacy Network for Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD).

The term of any resulting contract is anticipated to be for two years from July 1, 2026, until June 30, 2028.

Overview 

Successful Responder selected under this RFP may be responsible for performing following tasks. Detailed obligations and additional measures of performance will be defined in the final negotiated Grant Contract. 

The State seeks a partner capable of strengthening, expanding, and sustaining an active and thriving selfadvocacy network for people with I/DD. This Request for Proposals outlines the services desired by the State and establishes the framework for responder submissions. While the RFP defines the foundational expectations, the detailed obligations and performance measures will be finalized in the negotiated contract.

The successful responder will play a central role in ensuring that individuals with ID/DD are fully informed of their rights in employment, housing, transportation, healthcare, voting, government policy, and other issues pertinent to the ID/DD community. In addition, the responder will provide public education and awareness on civil and human rights, offer funding and technical assistance to selfadvocacy groups statewide, and develop communication systems that support informationsharing across the network.

 Funding Availability

A total of $381,350 is available each year for up to five years, depending on the contract duration. The state intends to award a single grant, which must demonstrate statewide reach and impact. Generally, matching funds are not permitted; however, if an opportunity for matching funds becomes available, the grantee should consult with DHS regarding a potential contract amendment. An organization receiving a grant under this subdivision may use a portion of grant revenue determined by the commissioner for administration and general operating costs. DHS Disability Services permits up to 10% of the total grant award to be used for grant administration. 

Funding will be allocated through a competitive process with review by a committee representing content and, if applicable, community specialists with regional knowledge. If selected, Responder may only incur eligible expenditures when the contract is fully executed and the grant has reached its effective date.

The Minnesota Department of Education is offering the Concurrent Enrollment Introduction to Teaching Grant to enhance the teacher workforce by funding programs under the Postsecondary Education Options (PSEO). This initiative aims to develop and expand dual-credit courses in education for high school students, particularly focusing on American Indian and students of color, thus promoting diversity and inclusion in teaching careers across Minnesota.

The Mary C. Murphy Library Construction Grant, offered by the Minnesota Department of Education, supports public library renovations and construction projects aimed at enhancing accessibility. With funding up to $1 million for improvements and $450,000 for accessibility, this grant prioritizes eliminating architectural barriers and ensuring safe, inviting library environments. The initiative reflects the Department's commitment to equitable education access for all Minnesotans, fostering lifelong learning opportunities within communities.

Training registrations and stipend distribution for direct support workers

DHS, through its Disability Services Division, is seeking Proposals from qualified Responders to administer training registrations, enhanced rate and budget training verification and stipend distribution for direct support workers.

The term of any resulting contract is anticipated to be one year, from July 1, 2026, until June 30, 2027. STATE may extend the contract up to a total of five (5) years.

Background

Direct Support Workers (DSWs) who provide services through the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) programs Community First Services and Supports (CFSS) budget model, Personal Care Assistance (PCA) Choice, Consumer Directed Community Supports (CDCS), and the Consumer Support Grant (CSG) are eligible to receive stipends when they have meet certain requirements. Additionally, when DSWs complete qualifying trainings, the services they provide become eligible for an enhanced reimbursement rate or trigger an enhanced budget when they are provided to people using CFSS, PCA services, CDCS, or CSG who are eligible for a certain number of hours of PCA services.  

DSWs comprise many types of diversity, including but not limited to people with a wide variety of:

• Racial, cultural, spiritual and or religious backgrounds
• Linguistic backgrounds, including both languages and dialects and accents; 
• Geographic locations; 
• Levels of education; 
• Disabilities, including invisible disabilities; 
• Marital statuses; 
• Types of families; 
• Sexual orientations; 
• Ages; 
• Nationalities and all immigration statuses; 
• Members of tribal nations; 
• Different sexes, including transsexual and intersex individuals; and or 
• Different genders, including people who identify themselves as gender-fluid or gender-neutral. 

Funding Availability

Voluntary training registration funding: $ 30,000, cost of training ranges from $75 to $200 dollars each. Additional funding may be added if funding runs out prior to the end of FY27. 

Voluntary Training Stipend: $ 1,125,000, stipends in the amount of $750 for issuing 1,500 stipends. Additional stipend funding may be available depending on the remaining balance in FY26. 

Retention Stipend: $ 10,000,800, stipends in the amount of $1,200 for issuing 8,334 stipends. Additional stipend funding may be available depending on the remaining balance in FY26.

Southwest Tribal Resilience Academy - Resilience Capacity Grant

Enterprise Community Partners (Enterprise) is seeking Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from eligible tribal entities, Community Development Corporations (CDCs), and Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs) that have participated in the Southwest Tribal Resilience Academy.

The Academy provides cohort-based learning opportunities for Southwest Tribal housing organizations to connect with one another, engage with subject-matter experts, and collaborate with local stakeholders to address the unique climate-related hazards facing their region.

To build on the knowledge and technical assistance gained through the Academy, Enterprise will award grant funding to participants of the Southwest Tribal Resilience Academy to support the implementation of resilient, community-driven solutions.

The Sauer Family Foundation Grant focuses on enhancing the lives of at-risk children in Minnesota, particularly in the seven-county metro area. The foundation prioritizes funding for initiatives that promote family stability, emotional safety in schools, and educational success for children facing learning disabilities. With a commitment to community-based support, the foundation also emphasizes the importance of diverse workforce pathways, ensuring that programs are inclusive and equitable. Applications for new funding opportunities will be limited as the foundation approaches its planned sunset in 2027.

The Clinical Preparation for International Medical Graduates Grant Program, authorized by Minnesota Statutes Section 144.1911, aims to support immigrant international medical graduates (IMGs) in overcoming barriers to practice. This initiative facilitates their integration into Minnesota's healthcare workforce by preparing them for medical residency programs, ultimately enhancing access to primary care in rural and underserved areas. By leveraging IMGs' diverse backgrounds, the program promotes culturally responsive healthcare services across Minnesota.

The Greater Lake Superior Foundation Grant Program provides $2000 grants annually to support graduate research on Coaster Brook Trout in Lake Superior and its tributaries. Eligible applicants must be graduate students from accredited universities in Michigan, Minnesota, Ontario, or Wisconsin, focusing on Fisheries Management, Limnology, Ecology, or Biology. Research topics include habitat requirements, migratory behavior, and management activities. Recipients must submit a project summary for publication on the GLSF website.

Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA)

Statewide recycling market development grants

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is accepting grant applications for projects that will build lasting capacity to support recycling markets in Minnesota. The grant money must help Minnesota businesses and other entities to use recyclable material in their products, thereby increasing local demand for recyclable material. Grant money also can be used to process recyclable material into a higher value material for use in new products.

Recycling is a cost-effective way to handle waste, and it has social, economic, and environmental benefits. We need recycling markets to help create and maintain demand for recyclables. Without these end markets that use or process a recyclable material, we do not have recycling. 

Available funds

Approximately $800,000 is available. The minimum individual grant amount should be no less than $50,000. The maximum individual grant amount is $300,000. Grantees will be required to provide a 20% match of the grant award (cash or in-kind).

The Media Partnerships Program, funded by the Bush Foundation, supports nonprofit media organizations in Minnesota and surrounding areas. It provides three-year operating grants to enhance news coverage, foster community engagement, and ensure diverse voices are represented. By promoting transparency and editorial independence, the program aims to amplify storytelling that addresses local issues, ultimately strengthening the region's informational landscape. Eligible organizations can receive up to $150,000 in support to further their mission while collaborating with the Foundation.
