Community Care Corps encourages organizations across the country to apply for 18-month grants ($30,000–$200,000) to develop and scale innovative volunteer programs that provide nonmedical assistance to older adults, adults age 18 and older with disabilities and family caregivers.

Projects funded through this initiative will increase the number of community-based volunteer programs available to provide nonmedical assistance while decreasing the number of older adults, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers who need assistance in maintaining independence in the community but are unable to obtain help. In doing so, the initiative will strengthen community-based supports that help people maintain independence, reduce unmet needs, and improve overall well-being.

Generally the Community Foundation's scholarships are awarded to applicants who have high financial need. Applicants with household income exceeding $100,000 are less likely to be awarded, but applying will allow you to be considered for targeted scholarships.

Virginia Valk Fehsenfeld Scholarship

Open to full time undergraduate students who are Kent County residents studying education, dietetics, nutrition, or human services and have a minimum 3.4 GPA.

The Pediatric Visiting Professorship, funded by the Rheumatology Research Foundation, aims to recognize exceptional scientific abstracts from pediatric rheumatology fellows at ACR Convergence. Grants will be awarded for a term of 1-3 years, with funding based on program needs.

The Alzheimer’s Association's Center for Dementia Respite Innovation Grant (CDRI) supports innovative respite care projects, aiming to improve person-centered dementia care across the U.S. With up to $20 million available over five years, the grant encourages local respite care providers to enhance their services through collaboration and innovative solutions. Recipients will receive training and assistance to ensure their programs are effective and sustainable, addressing the growing need for quality dementia care.

Scholarships are offered to students living in the Richmond region and other Virginia locations. Each scholarship was established by a generous individual, family, or organization with a desire to assist high school students, recent high school graduates, and adult learners to continue their education. 

John E. Thomasson Scholarship

The John E. Thomasson Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 to support postsecondary educational opportunities for youth of African American or other minority heritage in the Louisa County (Virginia) Public Schools or Fluvanna County (Virginia) Public Schools. Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to students who have been admitted to an accredited two-year technical school, four-year Historically Black College or University or the school of their choice. Preference will be given to applicants planning to attend Virginia State University, Hampton University, Virginia Union University, or Norfolk State University.

This scholarship awards up to $2500 to two adults with cystic fibrosis pursuing various educational paths. Applicants must show proof of enrollment for the relevant academic year and can cover education-related costs, including tuition and materials. This initiative not only supports education but also commemorates Lauren's legacy, inspiring others to pursue their dreams despite challenges.

The ABPN Faculty Innovation in Education Award aims to support innovative educational projects that enhance residency training and lifelong learning for psychiatrists and neurologists. With a funding potential of $120,000 over two years, the award prioritizes projects focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, clinical skills evaluations, and professional competence. The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF) provides grants focused on HIV/AIDS care, advocacy, and education. Eligible organizations must have at least three years of experience in HIV/AIDS programs and can apply only once per year.
