Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri

The Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri Inc. was established in 2009 as a 501(c)3 public charity to help donors support their favorite charities while receiving maximum tax advantage.

We serve as a vehicle for charitable giving, helping donors give to the causes they care about. Donor gifts will strengthen nonprofits increasing programs and services. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to establish a fund with us. 

St Joseph School District Foundation Midland Empire Safety Association Scholarship

This fund was established by the Midland Empire Safety Association to provide academic scholarships to students pursuing a degree in occupational safety and/or health, industrial hygiene, environmental safety, industrial fire prevention, risk management and occupational medicine.

Guidelines:

Scholarship recipient is chosen by The Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri’s Finance/Grant Committee. Scholarships will be awarded on a one-time basis and disbursed in August.

Amount:

Minimum of $500.00 to be paid at the start of the Fall semester.

The New Haven Scholarship Fund offers financial assistance to New Haven residents graduating from local public high schools with demonstrated need. Scholarships, ranging from $200 to $2900, are awarded for one academic year, covering two semesters. Eligible students must have attended a qualifying high school since senior year and complete a formal application process, including an interview. Reapplication is permitted each year, ensuring continued support for students' educational pursuits.

The HVAC Skills Lab Grant aims to support middle and high schools in the U.S. and Canada by providing equipment and resources to establish plumbing and HVAC skills labs. With a growing demand for skilled trades, this program encourages educational institutions to equip students with vital trade skills. Grant recipients will receive $25,000 worth of products and equipment, along with access to SkillCat's technical training platform, fostering a new generation of skilled professionals.

The HVAC Skills Lab Grant aims to refurbish existing plumbing and HVAC skills labs in middle and high schools across the U.S. and Canada. With a focus on preparing students for vital trade careers, the grant provides $10,000 in equipment to enhance hands-on learning. This initiative supports schools with technical training resources, promoting the growth of skilled labor in these essential fields. Schools that have not received a Skills Lab award in the past 24 months are eligible to apply.

The ARS Sue Ann and John L. Weinberg Foundation Cystic Fibrosis Chronic Rhinosinusitis Grant offers $20,000 for one year to support emerging researchers in the study of cystic fibrosis-related chronic rhinosinusitis. Eligible applicants must be members of the American Rhinologic Society with no significant prior funding. The grant encourages collaboration with experienced CF researchers and requires proper acknowledgment in publications. It prioritizes innovative research projects and fosters career development in the field.

The San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists Scholarship Fund, administered by the San Antonio Area Foundation, supports students pursuing degrees in Journalism or Communications. Eligible applicants include high school seniors and college students from specific Texas counties or those attending schools in San Antonio. The scholarship aims to foster educational opportunities and promote diversity in media, helping students achieve their career goals in the communications field.

Big dreams start here! With support from generous individuals, families, and businesses, the Community Foundation offers scholarships that help San Luis Obispo County students reach new heights in their education and careers.

Alan D. Stephenson Scholarship

The Alan D. Stephenson Scholarship was established to support promising LGBTQIA+ students to achieve their academic potential.

The Lawren H. Daltroy Preceptorship in Health Communication aims to enhance patient-clinician communication by providing a one-on-one learning experience for trainees and junior researchers. Funded by the Rheumatology Research Foundation, it offers up to $15,000 over one year for eligible candidates with no prior R01 funding. The program focuses on projects that improve understanding of effective communication in healthcare settings, addressing critical issues such as health literacy and shared decision-making.

The Lighthouse Wealth Management Scholarship is designed for residents of Ashland County who aim to pursue a major in Business or Finance at an accredited college or university. This scholarship welcomes applications from high school seniors, continuing students, and non-traditional students, ensuring that financial support is available for those committed to their education. Prior recipients are eligible to reapply, fostering continued support for their academic journeys.

The Hearst Journalism Awards Program, established in 1960, supports journalism education through scholarships and competitions. With up to $700,000 in awards across various categories, it encourages undergraduate journalism majors and minors from accredited institutions to showcase their work. The program includes multiple writing, photojournalism, audio, television, and multimedia competitions, providing a platform for emerging journalists to gain recognition and experience in their field.

The NIA Academic Leadership Career Award (K07) provides funding for established investigators to strengthen research capacity in aging and Alzheimer's Disease. The program supports the development of educational infrastructure, mentorship, and career development activities. Key deadlines for applications include February 12, June 12, and October 12 from 2025 to 2027. This award is specifically for research not involving independent clinical trials, allowing applicants to gain experience in trials led by others.

The Alfred I., Catharine J., and Eleanor G. Switzer Scholarship, offered by the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation, aims to support local youth residing in Los Osos, CA. This scholarship is open to high school seniors, undergraduates, and returning students, providing them with essential financial assistance to pursue their educational goals. By fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, the foundation encourages students to achieve their dreams and contribute positively to their community.

The Joyce Bytof Memorial Cancer Survivors Scholarship, established by Joyce Bytof in collaboration with the American Cancer Society, supports childhood cancer survivors graduating from specific Wisconsin high schools. This scholarship aims to assist them in pursuing higher education despite the financial and academic challenges posed by their experiences. Joyce's legacy continues to inspire hope and resilience among young survivors as they strive for academic success and a brighter future.

The John S. Renner Memorial Scholarship, offered by the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation, supports LGBTQ+ individuals pursuing arts education in postsecondary institutions. This scholarship aims to empower students to achieve their educational and career aspirations, fostering an inclusive environment for all. Applications are open for high school seniors, undergraduates, and returning students, providing a vital resource for those looking to make their dreams a reality. Join us in celebrating diversity and supporting the next generation of artists.

The National Institute on Aging, in collaboration with the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, is announcing a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) aimed at exploring the link between olfactory decline and aging, Alzheimer's disease, and related dementias. This research could reveal olfactory dysfunction as a health indicator in older adults and identify new targets for therapeutic strategies. While applications are not currently being accepted, interested researchers are encouraged to prepare for future submissions.

The National Writers Series Scholarships, offered by the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation, support aspiring writers in 11th and 12th grades from Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau Counties. Eligible applicants must submit an online application along with a manuscript in one of the following genres: Fiction, Nonfiction, Journalism, or Poetry. The Rev. Dr. Neil T. Eckstein Scholarship, established by family and friends, honors Neil's legacy of service and support for Christian higher education. It is available to full-time students at accredited colleges or ELCA seminaries. While the number and amount of scholarships may vary, maintaining eligibility is crucial, as failure to register full-time can result in loss of support. This scholarship reflects Neil's commitment to education and faith within the Grace Lutheran Church community.

The Gronstrand Ernst Scholarship, managed by the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation, supports high school seniors and adult re-entry students with a minimum GPA of 3.5. Eligible applicants must be residents of San Luis Obispo County, attend a university or vocational program, and demonstrate financial need, with English as their second language. This scholarship aims to empower students to pursue their educational dreams and contribute positively to the community.

Nurses Educational Funds

Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. depends solely on donations to advance our only mission, to promote nursing leadership through annual scholarship support for professional nurses seeking masters and doctoral degrees in nursing education, practice, research, and administration.

NEF’s only purpose is to provide nursing scholarship assistance to make graduate level nursing education possible. NEF is one of the largest, national, private, professionally endorsed source of funds for advanced nursing study with over one hundred years of service to and for professional nursing. NEF is a non-profit organization with 501(c) status.

Francine Bono-Neri Scholarship Fund

As a grateful 2019 NEF Scholar, in 2023, Francine Bono-Neri wanted other nurses to benefit from receiving a scholarship while focusing their master's or doctoral degree clinical study and research on the problem of human trafficking. As an experienced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Bono-Neri's deep concern about the global reach of human trafficking inspired her to become the co-founder and serve as president of Nurses United Against Human Trafficking. Committed to education and clinical awareness about human trafficking for every nurse in all settings and countries, this scholarship will support the study of human trafficking as well as related clinical and research areas which include forensic nursing, sexual assault, child sexual assault/abuse, sexual exploitation, sextortion, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, adverse childhood experiences, and child maltreatment.

The Freshman Winner's Circle Scholarships, established by the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement, aim to support high school students graduating in Spring 2026 who are pursuing degrees in agriculture. These scholarships encourage participation in livestock projects and reward dedication to the agricultural field. Eligible students must enroll in a post-secondary agricultural program at a university or college starting Fall 2026, fostering future leaders in the agricultural industry.

The ABC Law Centers: Birth Injury Lawyers Cerebral Palsy Scholarship awards $1,000 annually to a deserving student with cerebral palsy. This scholarship aims to raise awareness about cerebral palsy and celebrate the accomplishments of individuals affected by it. Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. higher education institution and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The scholarship reflects ABC Law Centers' commitment to supporting those impacted by birth injuries and ensuring their futures are secure.

The Josh Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, is designed to support students who are residents of Chaves, Lincoln, and Otero counties. It encourages applications from single parents demonstrating financial need. Eligible students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and can attend any higher education institution, including universities, community colleges, or vocational schools. This scholarship aims to empower various individuals on their educational journeys.

Rainin Visionary Scientist Award 

The Kenneth Rainin Foundation believes that early support for innovative ideas can lead to improvements in preventing, predicting, diagnosing and treating Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Our Health grantmaking enables researchers worldwide to test ideas, gather and share data, and collaborate to advance the understanding of IBD.

The Rainin Visionary Scientist Award will provide grants of $300,000 each over two years to support three outstanding postdoctoral investigators whose work has the potential to advance the understanding of IBD and related biological systems. This award is designed to help postdocs based in the US who are actively preparing to transition to an independent faculty position develop innovative research programs and strengthen their trajectory toward independent scientific careers. By supporting promising scientists early in their careers, the Foundation seeks to accelerate discoveries that may ultimately improve the lives of people living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Competitive proposals will demonstrate:

• A novel or creative scientific approach
• Strong potential to advance understanding of IBD biology or treatment
• Clear intellectual leadership from the applicant
• Feasible research aims that can be accomplished within two years
• A strong mentorship environment that supports career development

The Foundation particularly values projects that introduce new ideas, technologies or conceptual approaches to the study of IBD and relevant scientific disciplines.

Funds may be used for postdoctoral salary support, supplies, other direct research expenses necessary to complete the proposed work and travel to relevant scientific meetings. Awardees are expected to attend the Rainin Foundation Innovations Symposium during the award period. Economy/coach air travel costs for this meeting in San Francisco should be included in the budget.

The award provides $300,000 over two years. The grant period is October 1, 2026-September 30, 2028.

The Butler County Scholarship, established by the Central Alabama Community Foundation, aims to support graduating African American seniors from Georgiana School, Greenville High School, and McKenzie School. Annually, one scholarship is awarded, with the amount determined each year. Recipients may renew the scholarship for up to three additional years, provided they submit a high school transcript and references during the application process. This initiative underscores a commitment to educational advancement in the community.

Backup Power When Your Community Needs It

The Powered & Prepared Initiative seeks proposals from nonprofit and municipal organizations in southwestern Pennsylvania for backup power solutions that allow those organizations to offer essential services during emergencies without disruption.

Southwestern Pennsylvania is increasingly impacted by severe weather events that cause widespread power outages and disruptions. The Powered & Prepared Initiative, supported by Henry L. Hillman Foundation, seeks proposals from nonprofit and municipal organizations for backup power solutions that allow those organizations to offer essential services during emergencies without disruption.

The American Geophysical Union Jerome M. Paros Scholarship Award supports graduate students pursuing geophysical instrumentation and precise field measurements in seismology, atmospheric sciences, or ocean sciences. Established by Jerome M. Paros, the scholarship awards up to $5,000 to three students annually, fostering talent in this critical field. Eligibility includes being a graduate student at an accredited institution, with a focus on geophysical measurements. AGU student members are encouraged to apply.
